I Made $50,000 in my first 13 months of using Adsensand now I want to give back to DP

Wow I feel like an idiot typoing in the title!

Hello everyone, my name is AJ Vaynerchuk and I have been a member here at Digital Point for quite some time. I am writing this post to let everyone here know that I am working on a blog about Blogging, Adsense, and Internet marketing.

I have done quite well with Adsense in my first 13 months of being an Internet money maker. Of course I have made money with other programs, but I feel like I have made the most money and done my best work with Adsense.

I realize that many of you will not believe me, and that is ok - I usually don't believe people who post their secrets here on DP either. Of course I could have used photoshop to make my proof, but there really isn't anything I can do to prove that I didn't photoshop it. (PS: I did use photoshop to make all three images the same size in order for the gif to work properly ) I am not trying to brag about my earnings, but it reality says that everyone wants proof.

As a heads up I will begin covering Adsense extensively on my blog in the near future. A lot of my posts will appear right here on DP, but a lot of my posts will also be exclusively on my blog.

Very true. Giving back would be something along the lines of posting your exclusives here as opposed to your blog. This post is actually just....spam :O

 

I was going to wait before I posted something on DP without it being on my blog since I am kind of tired right now and just worked the past 14 hours straight but here goes :

Changing your content could drastically change your CTR and CPM

One of my main money making websites is a Myspace Resource Site. There is one page on my site that receives most of the entire site's traffic.

Last month that one page would serve up mostly myspace related google ads. As we all know, these ads do not provide that much money per click, but perform pretty well in terms of CTR.

For the month of July I decided to see if a change in content would change the ads and thus change CTR and CPM. After playing around with image alt and title, and removing a few keywords that were unnecessary I was done with my alteration.

After a few days my page started serving up ads based around ringtones and interesting ads that actually played off my domain name. These non-ringtone ads weren't very targeted, but since they resembled my domain name I decided to see how things would play out.

Funny Result: My CTR went down 1%, but my CPM tripled. This site is the largest site on my adsense network and was doing roughly $60-70 a day in June. After these changes the site is now doing $200-240 a day.

The lesson: Sometimes changing your content can change the ads that appear on your page, but that is not always a bad thing.

Since when has something new been the only way to earn money on Adsense? Either way I can't really win in this situation. Maybe it was a mistake to make this post, but I will still post articles on DP that I hope will be helpful to some.

How does comparing and contrasting Facebook to Pownce and Twitter matter at all to a webmaster?
