Why would someone do this??!!

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by melbel, Jul 23, 2007.

Sometimes on these forums and in various places around the internet I see people trying to get clicks on other people's ads to get the person banned. Why do people do this? I find that having competition helps me be a better business... to constantly be put in check. Why would someone do something like this just to be vindictive? I think it's unfair to try to KILL someone's online earnings like this.

    Anyone else agree?

I absolutely agree. It's a selfish act that will only come back to them ten-fold.

Selfish is the word your searching for. It very likely that whether I have an adsense account or not, it wont' affect them in any way.

    So, What's the point? NONE

Unfotunately there are people who are just plain spiteful and who get enjoyment out of causing problems for others.

A little cut from my blog.

That's why it happens. People just dont have the skills to challenge the site with a better site, so they figure they'll take the competition out that way to make their meager site seem best.

To avoid getting banned, Google advises you watch your stats and alert them as soon as you notice something suspicious.

From what I've read this doesn't happen too often from people with a malicious intent, rather from your friends trying to help you get more ad revenue.

Yeah, my friends don't know about it because they are the kind of friends who would try to "help."

When I was up to my parents, I told my sister about and it and she said, "Well, when you leave and Google knows you're back home, send me the link and I'll click a bunch of them for you..."

I basically said that is was very nice of her but Google would know and they want to keep their advertiser's best interests in mind and she understood. I still didn't give her the link, though. I'm just getting started on this and I don't want anyone to blow it for me!

There are lot of people in world those who can't see other people's happiness. They become happy by spoiling other people's things.

I agree, but I was wondering: how often does this happen?
I keep seeing people say "protect your adsense account"
from this and that, but I've never seen a problem with it.
Does it boil down to when you get your site higher in the
search engines, or can this happen to anyone?
