Cyberu, my advice is to learn the very basics and then ask your SEO firm exactly what they will be doing for your site. Suspect ones like to give the impression it’s all about black magic or voodoo. It’s not. There are many tactics, and some work better than others. Also, take the time to contact a couple past or current clients to get feedback. Too many of our clients get burned by SEO types. One recent client, a bright, successful entrepreneur got burned twice in the last year. Best to invest a little time and do your homework up front.

 

YOu can learn and implement it on your site with the help of DP people, will be the best.

seo itself is optimizing your site for certain keywords. If you search a little you'll find. When someone says "your site on keywords of you choice on First Page of google", just don't believe it for high searched keywords. That's not possible for single big searched keywords (for example: travel), unless you use very bad methods, and you only get the rankings (if you get it) just for a few days, and after that your site will be high penalized. Or if you use PPC (pay per click) for that big keywords, which will be very expensive.

You need to focus on less searched keywords, and that you can do it yourself, if you follow some simple rules of seo.

 

I can say i will get your site to page one for any given keywords if your budget allows. I have done time and time again.

Also if your site is a low budget or personal site, sure learn a bit and do it yourself.. However if its a serious business venture leave it to the pros because you can do more long term harm then good.
