How much should I take for it ?

how much work you have done with it, SEO, design, quality of the directory etc.

 

I have spends many hours on submitting to directories, most of them are free but I have also much strong links and it is added to high quality directories (avaiva,alive etc...). I have also added it to most (~90%) of directories (free) that has been announced in the annouce forums.
My directory is 2nd on phraze " SEO Directory" on google.com

how much do you make per month? It is one of the major factors.

 

My basic analysis fwiw:

seodir.net
- Currently PR4
- Predicted PR5 (prediction could be wrong)
- Page Strength 3 (as of June... probably moving higher)
- Alexa 193,000
- 4600+ backlinks (incl a few .gov)
- Site needs new template or unique design imo
- Domain name is good

Now I want to just know the value because I will maybe sell the directory, dir business is not for people that hasnt any other income and are still studying...

I am spending too much time for internet, 3 year of school lost etc...

Directory doesnt got category PR because I has a wrong code that disallowed Googlebot to index categories in my .htaccess fiel I have removed it already and G indexed all my categories now. I will wait for the next PR update untill I sell it (If I do it). Thank you mauiman.

what is the reason behind you selling it, don't want to know personal details, just want to know if it affects the directory in any way.

It doesnt give me many $$$... ad I have spend much too much time for it as I am student and the whole time I do in the work days is sitting on internet writting here and adding to directories

 

-Yes, PS was out of date, sorry, but I had already used up my one-a-day SEOmoz allowance!
-Probably will achieve PR5 in upcoming update
-Good move on fixing sub cat issue. That'll make huge difference.

As for valuation, I'm not sure people are comfortable throwing a value out here. The value is what you're able to get for it.

Why not run an auction for it with a reserve price that must be met in order for sale to close? It's got a lot of potential and if you just address some of the more obvious issues in the auction, as you did here, I think you can fetch a reasonable price. Building directories from scratch is nearly impossible and you offer someone a huge headstart plus some costly links that they won't have to pay for (aviva, romow, > 12,000 others).

Based on your pr, rankings, backlinks and potential and without earnings I would say somewhere between $500-800 max.
However it is bad time to sell it. Wait for pr to update, buy few banner spots on high traffic webmaster sites, sell few sitewides and ones you use potential your directory has and make profits, you are more likely to sell it at higher price.
It is good directory, you just need to monetize it before you sell it since not many people will bid based on potential only.

 

In order to place a value on a directory I would need to know the monthly earnings for the past 4-6 months.

Ball-park $800-$1,200. If it hits PR5 you could probably get +$500.00

If you show me good traffic and monthly earnings ($300-$400 average) I would say double what I said above.

The template is not very attractive and no inner page rank hurts the value.

I'm a student too and don't have a job ... I keap my directory as a hobby (well it made me few hundred of dollars untill now at least payed for hosting domain )
But i earn from being a freelancer plus adsense

 

The problem is that I am 17 years old, my adsense is banned, I own 15 domains, own dedicated server and I had not ever time to build a good profitable service. My parents need to pay for all my stuff
Therefor I want to sell my directory and stay only with free (seodir.eu and seodir.pl) and make business on my newest project http://www.brechta.pl

 

there is a better way to spend your time.
and unfortunately most of the people hate they jobs'. lucky me, i am working for the financial world and not to make damn ass like you upset, very happy with my work and more time i am spending , more i get back.

When i was creating my directory i did add some news, some Chitika code, i had few things together. but i ask my self a question, why would anybody go to my directory?? does my directory any better, than others.? the answers was no. and i stop, and closed. I did spend year of making and i got PR 5.

another point, is like with everything else, things are change so fast, yesterday technology, is not the same as today. Idea of having Directory is OLD technology, for me seem like everyone wants to be DMOZ. but , it will not happen.
