You could get a .info, that would be cheaper through godaddy and many other places.

Search the forums for coupon codes.

$6.95 is pretty cheap already. The amount of time you will spend looking for something cheaper is not worth the difference.
As well, many of the 'cheap' domain-providers are pretty shady, you don't want to register your domains with an untrust-worthy company!

1and1.com has .COMs for $5.99. I think they have the cheapest domains.

netfirms has domains for 4.95 usd for the first year , When I was a newbie I used them a lot and had no problems. But now I know that domain names are valuable and don't look for 1-2 usd cheapness.

Cheapest is not always the best option! I would recommend going with a reputable company that has a reasonable price as well

Just remember what happened to registerfli.com, they were selling domains too cheap, so if you want to develop your domain , do not go for cheapest option available.

Enom is not cheap. Enom.tv is good if you want to buy cheap .tv names, otherwise, I wouldn't use them.

The idea is, you make enough money from the site this year that $10 is chump change to you
