Then perhaps you'd like to do some research? :p

Anyway, generally there's no downtime when transferring a domain name from
one registrar to another. Downtime can occur if the nameservers (the ns1 and
ns2 thingie or so in your domain name) get changed with the gaining registrar
or if DNS problems occur, the latter independent of registrar transfers.

Definitely GoDaddy. Best thing......is you can call them anytime..24/7.

    That's vital, especially if you're not a whiz...like me!

Why is everybody rooting for Godaddy? i had a serious problem with them when i first ventured into domain registrations.
i currently use Namecheap and they have never given any headache for one day.they are the best

I am not a big fan of GoDaddy. Why? Because, when I was just starting out online and wanted to register a domain name, I discovered after going through their FAQs that I won't really "own" the domain, but rather like "renting" it.

I don't know if it is still the same. Never cared to check again.

    Is Namecheap like that too?

Personally, I mostly use dynonames. They are very good. :)

I'd suggest Dynadot. It has a MUCH better control panel than GoDaddy (IMHO -- and I do have some domains from both of them). Also Dynadot doesn't keep spamming you with offers like Godaddy does... And I don't mean only e-mail spam offers.... just to complete a domain name registration with Godaddy you have to go through a couple of pages of "BUY OUR HOSTING!!!!" or "look for other great names!" etc.... quite flashy and annoying.

I absolutely agree. I have some domains both with Dynadot and Godaddy and I find Dynadot control panel much more easier than GoDaddy.

Also, I don't like the GoDaddy domain purchase process. They are forcing you to buy more and more, even what you do not need. If you are not careful and don't click the "No, thanks" link at the bottom, you might buy even what you didn't want...

However, although all that, I now prefer to register my domains with GoDaddy, as if I am to sell my domain in future, it might be a disadvantage to have it registered elsewhere than with GoDaddy, as some domainers are not willing to buy domains that are not registered with GoDaddy.

Actually, never had any problems selling my Dynadot domains... And their ownership change process is really the simplest I've ever seen :p

    Namechaep.
Forget godaddy, http://nodaddy.com/ , their support is arrogant and of no use and their control panel is just shit.

I always use Godaddy. They try to up sell you everything under the sun during your order, but any semi-savvy computer user can speed through all of that.

That is true of any registrar, including NameCheap. You rent the rights to the name and have first option to renew.
