PRWeb - Does it pay off?

I am thinking of doing a press release. Since I don't have any experience on this, like to ask you guys for some suggestions.
I am considering PRWeb over others. Looks like they have different price options. 80/120/200/360. Which one is most effective?
If any of you have any experience please suggest.

Possibly some good amount of links, chances of getting published on any media, more traffic.

It really depends on what you want to publish... Uhm, it is good for a site releasing a new product and sometimes its good to tell people about a new service?

I don't think its good for "regular" sites.

The one thing I love about online press releases is they stay online. They don't get thrown out like the newspapers news.

Even if they don't get daily, weekly, or monthly views, when the right search is made and your press release pops up as the source, even if it's 5 years from now........you could end up with a new vistor, prospect or better yet - a new customer!!

From searching on different posts and online I found just saying that "We opened a new x type store, its fabulous, visit us" just wont work. Instead talking about the products and services alone may bring better results.
For example my site is about classifieds on jobs, housing, etc etc. If I say I have this fabulous new website with great design, functionality, and its free just wont work. On the contrary if I write something about the real estate boom, how it affected the community etc might have a better chance.

Is there any dp member who are really good writing press release?

I once went to a simple internet marketing seminar by sharon. It's quite interesting because she basically use prweb to get web presence and media's presence.

can't remember her surname though. She do prweb services as well as seo.

I posted my experiences here. Basically PRweb bought only a few visitors and not much reporters. (It was a new product launch pr story with proper budget).

You really have to have really-really-really-amazing story to make it work, I think. Spending bucks on paid reviews might be a better way to get coverage for starters.

I emailed her let see what she can do. I dont mind spending some money(to some limit) to get the word out, hoping it works. All it matters is ROI I guess.

Press releases can be great if you have newsworth items. Also, it is very important to either have it professionally done, or take the time and learn how to do one.

As ususal, A VERY catch headline can be helpful.

Pr Web has a class and lots of information on how to do a release.

They can not only bring traffic, but great backlinks as well.

Two thumbs up as part of your markting plan.

Yeah good topics is the key.
Something like Paris Hilton Bites Somebodies Dog. LOL
    Or something better.
May be I should try to get sued by craigslist or yahoo or somebody big poking them. That would be a good marketing.

Press release distribution is over-rated - you won't get many 'backlinks' or visitors.

I paid $220 for my press release ($169 prwebdirect release plus a few $20 upgrades to get more stars). I got mediocre results and I was giving away two custom website design, hosting & SEO packages worth several thousand dollars.

My release was time sensitive, so maybe that's why I didn't get the results I had hoped for. I think the best route is to do a bunch of $80 submissions if you've got enough exciting releases.

Press release might a difficult route. So far I didnt get much positive experience feedbacks. May be article marketing be a better choice. Writing quite a few good articles and distributing may bring better results. Writing articles also is an art demanding attention of seeding keywords you like.

I tried a few (mostly free, but paid for one, not sure which one)... got horrible results... less then 100 uv's total... that was for a technology / software site...
