Here are some highlights: 1. If you're willing to put a little bit of time into handling your press release distribution yourself, there's no need to spend a small fortune on press release distribution sites like PRweb. 2. You CAN get real coverage (actually quite well, and reasonably easily) by doing your own distribution, even going the free route. 3. Find out why submitting to hoards of free press release sites is just stupid. Effective Free Press Release Distribution in 5 Easy Steps
Jenn... Excellent advice. Tip #3 (send it to your local paper with a local spin) is totally on point. I used to get featured in my local business journal at least twice a year by doing this. After a while the reporters started calling on me, which was awesome. For those of you in the US, the American City Business Journals (http://www.bizjournals.com/) publishes 41 regional papers where you can send your press release to. Good luck!
good article for the most part - very basic information but good for starters. the pr.com thing is true - if you've got a good PR use pr.com for free! prweb.com is superb if you can afford the $200+ thanks for posting the article!
The problem is that even though it's very common sense info, the majority of webmasters either don't know about it, or completely ignore it.
Infact sending a release to you a journal or paper seems like an excellent idea. If you article is accepted and gets published, that's like free advertising.
Great tips, thanks a ton! It's not super easy to do a successful press release for very little money, but these are really wonderful tips on doing just that!
Jenn, as always, great information. A definate inspiration to get off my butt an get some long overdue press releases done. Thanks much.
Very true, I am one of them who ignored them until now . Thanks for the great tips. Keep up the great work!
