I have urls that all lead to what is essentially the same page just with a couple of words on the page changed.

    The main page is:

    www. sitename.com/pagename.php

    + the other urls are:

    www. sitename.com/pagename.php?var=lalala

    www. sitename.com/pagename.php?var=dododo

    etc.

What is the best way for me to structure this using mod rewrite, can I make it so that google credits the PR from all the other urls to the main page instead of spreading it out?

i think none of them is good . ? character in urls is not good .

    you can use mod_rewrite .

why dont you use urls like sitename/loolololo.html? this is the best

You've missunderstood the question, I've got links going to multiple pages:
    www. sitename.com/pagename.php?var=lalala
    www. sitename.com/pagename.php?var=dododo

etc. and I want google to think they are all the same page:
    www. sitename.com/pagename

Is there any way to do this?

Do these pages actually exist? If they do, then I don't think it will be possible for you to redirect them so Google thinks they are all the same page.

Yes they exist. They are exactly the same page as each other except the variable after the ? is used in a flash animation.

I was wondering if there's any way to aviod Google

    1. Spreading PR between them when the only page worth having listed in the search engines is
    www. sitename.com/pagename

    2. Giving less credit to them in the search results as it sees them as lots of pages with duplicate content.

If it's not posible to avoid these things that's ok it's just that when I have decided the link structure I won't be able to change it so I wanted to check first. The structure I was planning on using is

    www. sitename.com/pagename/variable/

But is there a better way?

    What about:

    www. sitename.com/pagename#variable

    ?

    www. sitename.com/pagename/variable/

This is the best option IMO. This way, you can also redirect the pages like www. sitename.com/pagename.php?var=lalala to www. sitename.com/pagename/lalala/ so they get benefit from the incoming links.

You can simplify and make them go to www.sitename.com/lalala/

I wouldn't recommend making the old pages to redirect to the home page as the incoming links could be using appropriate keywords in the anchor texts. They should be redirected to the new structure pages.
