Hello! I'm re-doing part of my site and I'm going to make sure to pull dynamic alt and title tags out of the database for images. Since google has recently started showing my images in Google Images I'd like to encourage it to show these 300 odd images also. Here's my question because I can't tell based on my current images - should I do both an alt and a title tag in the image? That will make them start showing up for those keywords in G Image Search is that correct? Is one more important then the other. Before you say anything, I am not trying to stuff keywords into alt and title tags, they will be 100% visitor friendly as well. Thanks for your opinions/advice.
Don't stuff keywords, use 1 or 2 and let that be it. IMO it also helps to have surrounding text related to those keywords.
Ok will do - the page will be filled with text, lots of content. I might even use some H1 tags just for fun.
Thanks again! I've been reading about H1 tags helping spiders see the page "structure" but never used them before because they never looked good. I've learned since that you can change them using CSS (it never occurred to me) which makes them really very useful. The avatar is a picture of me testing out a new instrument that came on the market recently - sweet horn...we got them to become a sponsor on the website but I haven't talked them out of a 3000 dollar instrument yet.
I like using both alt and title for large images. Alt is for visually impaired and for those with images turned off. I describe the contents of the image in Alt. Title is for everyone and I use for comments. Like: <img alt="blue slippers" title="These are very comforable slippers."> I do not know if it helps or hurts the rankings, but it surly helps the visitors...
Ok I did it - made sure the alt + title tags are in place, used H1 tags, snuck a keyword into the new dynamic URL's and 301 permanent redirected the old pages to the new...lets see what happens! Thanks for the advice everybody!
