Yes, it's 100 points per green blob.
Unfortunately that means that you'll need 100 newbs to rep you.
I believe Shawn has made a post explaining the rep system - make a search and you'll find it easily.

100 is true as long as you have a low post count. It isn't the same as your post count increases. I just passed another 100 rep points, but I still have 5 bulbs.

Yup, Rosie is right, they make it tougher on you once you get 5 blobs, it goes 200 at a time from then on and tops out at 11 blobs (I think)

Yeah I think this take time in the beginning but for selling and so it's worth it.
I guess i have to be patient. 200 points for later sounds a lot!
