Is this true?

I read somewhere on this forum that you can increase your pagerank by going into google and searching on your website name.

After the results displays - you copy the string query like:http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=poorcreditgenie and paste in as a link on your links page?

Has anyone heard of this. I hope I'm describing it right???

Sounds like complete and utter cobblers to me.

Plus, "poorcreditgenie" isn't a page that exists anywhere to have a rank... um, despite what you're signature might think! :)

Well if that's true.. here we gooooo.. WhatiFind

I believe this to be an classic urban myth in pagerank.

You can increase your pagerank by getting links from other website (with pr) to your website. The more links, the better your serp, the higher your pagerank. http://www.webmarketweek.com/article/41.php

I heard that you can increase your pagerank by getting inbound links from sites that have high pagerank. I am sure this is a much better way then the idea presented above.

Just thought I'd ask... Am i missing some inside joke? What does this mean? A straight helpful answer would be great.

Plus, "poorcreditgenie" isn't a page that exists anywhere to have a rank... um, despite what you're signature might think!
