I made this thread a while back, no one really helped; I left it for a while but I thought I'd try again.. Can anyone tell me where to look to get started with affiliate marketing, or guide me along (via MSN or something; and I'll give back a good sum when I'm earning), or even give a few tips. Thanks
You need to jump in to it. Find something you know about or are interested in look for products services in that niche, then build a process to send consumers to the offer, and buy traffic. Watch the cost of your traffic to ensure youre making it back on the sales, or leads you get paid for. For example if i was in to cars, i might look for a car financing, warranty, or new car lead program. Sign up, and make a site about cars, maybe i would write reviews, or buy a database of car specs so people can search. You can find good databases at www.odditysoftware.com not sure if they have cars. or something that would be of interest to someone who likes cars, and would want the product i am trying to market. Buy traffic on search engines (this is where it gets tricky) you need to find how to make the math work. Pay 1 for a click, send 100 clicks only 50 clicks go to the offer 5 clicks turn in to a lead if the lead paid $20 you break even, but most only pay $10-$14, so you would be at a loss, either you lower your bids, which means less traffic or you figure out how to get more people through the funnel. Maybe your page sucks, maybe the offer sucks, maybe the network you use isnt tracking right, try new pages, new offer, and new networks. Its like cooking, its a recipe you need to tweak in order for it to be the best. I will be more than happy to help anyone out if you have any questions on affiliate marketing, just post them here so others can learn too.
You can check out my blog on my space> under vxmoonat myspace.com its nothing but affiliate marketing and some of the gurus involed but a niche is something you like or have something incommon with.
as far as niches go, you can try the really competitive stuff like ringtones and dating, but be prepared to lose money for up to 3 weeks while you learn tweak, and if youre using google, google starts to rank you and lower your click cost. Otherwise pick a few networks to sign up with, go through the offers, look at the page, payout and what needs to happen for you to get paid, see if others are bidding on keywords you would use to go with the offer and look for low competition with decent volume. When picking offers you need to also use your gut feeling, if the consumer needs to buy a gas grill for you to get paid, that might be something someone buys offline more often than online. People use the internet for electronic stuff (ringontes, gadgets, media), free stuff (everyone wants to find something for free), services they dont use everyday (Financial, travel, shopping for hard to find items) and embarrassing stuff, no one wants to walk in a store and say hey im fat do you have the south beach diet plan for me (online dating, dieting,). If youre looking for something like check out offer 435 in so and so network, its not that easy. This is work but enjoyable and profitable work. You need to put in the time and experience it first hand, PPC is going to cost you money at first, if you dont have money find ways of getting cheaper traffic, from your signature it looks like you might know SEO, use your SEO skills to rank for terms, its a longer process but less expensive 99% of the time you will lose money n PPC for at least a week.
Find a rewarding niche within your budget that you are interested in and preferrably have a bit of knowlege in. Build a micro site remembering the key is to create every page as a landing page. Directing all traffic to your "Apply Form"... Then begin marketing. PPC is very good immediate rewards but tough to manage and I would defo recommend doing your research. SEO is good but can take a couple of months to see good results. Don't give up! Don't have all your eggs in one basket. Don't forget lots of coffee for the late nights.. Good Luck Lee
Very well explained. Rep added Might I also add that try and make a couple of websites/blogs first - so that you can get familiar with webdevelopment, seo, etc before you invest any money. Then you can use that experience to get traffic and conversions. All the best with whatever you go for
MikeIMM nailed it perfectly. Read his posts till you get it, then read it one more time. You want to see an affiliate site? Google something then click on one of the ads that comes up. Alot (not all) will be affiliate sites which will funnel you to the CPA offer.
you will spend a life time comparing one sit to another just a few tips if its to good to be true it not there is NO get rich easy way to do this but educate yourself in market trends and pick one that fits your wallet and time
You have received some good answers here, but almost everyone has told you "what to do" and not "how to do it". This is mistake most people make when "advising" new/novice affiliates. I would recommend before you jump into anything, you pick up the free ebook entitled Affiliate Master's Course. Don't let the fact that it is free fool you. This ebook is considered one of the best for introducing affiliate marketing and guiding the affiliate marketer. You can pick up a copy here: http://aff-masters.sitesell.com/ You asked for an example of an affiliate marketing site. You can see one if you click on the first site in my signature. Hope this is helpful. Jim
I searched free ringtones and got this: http://www.free-text.co.uk/ I'm guessing thats an affiliate site because of the jamster stuff. I guess I could try out the free ringtones niche, does anyone know a good affiliate program I can use for it?
Azoogle is generally considered the top ringtone affiliate (though CJ and several others offer ringtones as well). When you apply for Azoogle, if you don't hear back in a week, call them and they'll approve you over the phone.
Well, I got an e-mail from Azoogle saying I should send them a mail message (over the REAL mail). Is that usual? I'm kinda reluctant to take the bother and go to the post office...
As a new entrant do not jump into Google Adwords program, concentrate only on organic search rankings. If you are really confident enough, then opt PPC.
My recommendation as a newcomer is start learning the basics and fundamentals of affiliate marketing. Go on article directories like ezinearticles.com and read articles on affiliate marketing. Read every free e-book on affiliate marketing that you can find. Once you have a general idea of what exactly you want to do with affiliate marketing, then you can look into options that require money (such as PPC, getting your own domain name and site, etc.)
Read my ebook and it'll help you with the basics. If you want you can sign up under my azoogle referral and i'll help you out. PM me if you're interested.
yes you should read what others are doing to make an affiliate program work and true you can make money from them but it does require learning and work!
Why do so many people push ebooks? isn't most of it just crap? If a guy can make water in to gold, why would he sell the secret?
