I only have the .com

I got an amazing .com name and i want to start my biggest project yet on that.
Now the thing is other extensions of that like .org .de etc are booked..

Now, i asked the owner if he wants to sell it but he is asking for pathetic prices so i was wondering if i should continue or just look for another domain?

You have the .com! that's the captain.
    It's the big toe.
As long as you have the .com, you should be good.
I would run with it, and pick up others as they become available, or are dropped, and don't show any interest in the other extensions, or they will keep renewing, and wait you out.
Don't communicate with the owners again, unless there comes a time that you just want to throw a bunch of cash at them, but by that time, you may be able to just sue for it. (or at least threaten to)

It shouldn't be, "I only have the .com.:(", it should be, "I have the .com!:)"
I forgot to ask what country you are in. Is .de important to you?

No need to worry since you have the .com ; just wait for them to make the first move. ;)

    That's why when I bought bidupdir.com I also registered bidupdir.info because it's only an extra $1

You say .de does it mean it's a german site and only interesting for germans? Or is it more global/english orientated?

I do not know how german people look at .com but if I build a site for only the dutch market .com is not king it's .nl and if you are after branding and positioning it as a large project then I would reconsider going with the .com
So if the answer if german only I would look for an other name and as there are millions of names I would take the $7.- loss on this .com name and make sure I have a nice and good .de name

    Just my 2cents
