Directory Business 1st 6 Months Jan-Jun 2007

Discussion in 'Directories' started by britishguy, Jun 30, 2007.

  1. #1
The first 6 months of the year has firmly consolidated the Directory Market

    Business/Trends Up
    More Reviews
    More Traffic
    More Functionality and Features
    More Innovations

    Business/Trends Down
At last the market seems to be gradually and slowly throttling the negative elements QBC Directories, Spammers etc etc

The first 6 months of 2007 has seen the Directory Market continue to expand and develop, ensuring that the future will be strong and enduring :)

I am optimistic as a person;)

But in business prefer to base facts before crystall balls and the market indicators look very healthy and as such the market :-

Should be strong and upwards for the rest of the year

The first six month of the year have been great! All trends point to more upward movement.

Only thing that has me worried is the number of directories being built on dropped domain names and flipped for profiit. I am tracking a few to see how the next G updates treats them. I hope it does not turn-off too many customers if these directories tank.

    Totally agree there Pete.
I am sure we (Directory Owners) have a bright future ahead.

QBC directories are there the whole time but sooner or later, they are going to disappear.
I think over all, directory business is going UP in positive direction.

Six months has been wonderful and I feel that it can only be better and better. At least, I hope so after the next PR update.

Thats OK Pete --but the problem is when they advertise outside and dupe clients who are not aware of these QBCs.

Anyway --for me personally --the market has gone from good to better.:) as the days progressed.

Spot on jhnrang but with the likes of Jay, you and many others we can hopefully increase the awareness

We seem to be able to all pull together when we are being duped, unfortunately it will take time and effort

But we are all giving it our best shot

I have no objection to use related domain names with PR for a directory. The directory owner should keep it quite and promote it silently. Naturally --the PR update will bring some results due to its promotion.

He/she can then announce that directory.

Of course they can be announced soon after installing the scripts also--but they should clearly mention that the directory has been set-up on an expired domain to show their honesty.
Let me share about one of my experiences--
Few days back one well known member of DP ( he/she is not a long-time directory owner like you though-) -- has been churning out one directory after another with PR. But they were on expired domains. He started participating -- in our discussions and everything went right. But when I pointed out his directories were on expired domains -he red repped me ( I can care less -:p) and now he is rarely seen on this section. He went back to his usual field of discussions.:D

I had no problem with installing directories on related domains with PR. But one has to be honest from the beginning- thats my point and unless and untill it goes through a PR update --he/she should not advertise it as PR this and that --blah blah blah.

I know or think I know the person you are referring to

There have been lot of improvements in these first 6 months

    - lot of new mods
    - Directories keep becoming better and better in terms of design
    - lots of unique content and features - deep links mod, cool listing of the day and so on..

The directory market should keep growing at the same pace. :)

I agree, that is a sound business practise. I only have issue with it when the owner is trying to trick folks into parting with there money based soley on PR without revealing that the domain is dropped.

Or maybe you have to watch out as the domain could be faked too
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=384684
    Sucks:eek:

These are the downside issues that need tracking and reporting, these will be on going issues but in the main the Directory Sector is in general terms transparent, professional and above board :)
