That is not impossible to do, or in fact it is, because You also have to pay the reg. fee.

If You are at the right place at the right time it's possible.
There are plenty of people that build lots of links to their websites and after a while just leave them.
They have no clue to what PR are.
Most of the "normal" people I know have absolutely no idea about it, even if they have their own sites :)

It is only crazy people like us that know about this, and pay way to much for a bit of green in the toolbar. :D

true, but these domains almost always go on auctions (if they are expired, or being sold by the buyer) and then the prices go to $3K+ because lots of people want it

    Not impossible at all.
    Take a look at solais(.)net, seems a real PR7 doesn't it ?
Ok, it was sold on firesale for $5 !!
So it's rare but not impossible.
Good luck for whoever bought it.

I know it was redirected to beccary but beside that, it gets a lot of real back links.
Just as an example: Go to beccary dot com's home page
Find the link "Life in a Bell Jar" and see where it's linked to :)
    That subdomain got Pr5 !

This domain has lots of pageranked subdomains and obviously worth more than $5 :)

The true pagerank May not be 7 but still is high, I hope the new owner knows how to recover the subdomains and use their pagerank.

I'm very interested in this thread (I found the link in my logs). The fakePR problem will be fixed in the next 24 hours. It will identify PR as either confirmed or Redirected and the redirected location (since it is my understanding that some redirects are valid (ie Blog hosts)).

If there is a better way to handle/display this information, I'm open to ideas.

Everyone is, of course, encouraged to use their own verification tools for all domains. Before I spend my money on a domain I do the same. It's my intention to put as many of these tools as practical in one place.

If you see ANYTHING that should be done better on the site, or make it more useful, please don't hesitate to contact me.

WARNING!! well sorta.. just be prepared to wait 2 weeks to 30 days for the domains to show up in your "domain management"

Is http://pr.blogflux.com/ legit? if so I just snatched up a few pretty damn good domains for 5 bux a pop.

well 5 bux plus 8+ then a 15% off coupon so it was like $12 and change each.

I look on PR5+ domains with price tag of $5+. Their all fake. Just like Michael_Goldman have said, you can't buy one with PR5+ domains for just $5+ only. ;)

tdnam is a sub website of godaddy. It's used at auction of domains. So when you loging to tdname you also be entered to godaddy.

Would be nice to see the domain age (whois lookup?) on the chart.

Also, if you could integrate a tool which verifies the PR as being true or fake, it would save everyone a lot of time.

Just a quick update. I have put PR verification in place.. PRs in green are not (according to google) based on redirects. PRs in gray can not be verified (Either redirect, or unknown). If you hover over a gray PR you will see where the site redirects to.

Also, I have changed the way yahoo backlinks counts are gotton. They are alot more conservative now.

These domains arn't owned by any one person. It's an aggregation of multiple auction listings around the web, mashed up with statistics like google page rank, Yahoo backlinks, google backlinks, etc.. You need to buy them through the auction house, or the domain name owner.

I've added this to the ToDo list. It may just show up in metric detail box (hover over the magnifying glass) Is that alright? or do you need it displayed on the main grid?
