Most just comes from google. Most of my searches are from long tail searches (i think that is what it is called) or they visit my blog first, see my gallery feed, and head there.

 

My own opinion is that it all depends on what niche you're in when it comes to internet marketing. If you can somehow subtly weave 'sex' into whatever you're selling in such a way that the visitor can be attracted without realizing that you're just playing on their emotions, then good for you. All about what angle you try to advertise at, and who you're trying to advertise to.

 

We can see a lot of examples around us.

 

www.ixwebhosting.com is another example of a website like godaddy. They are using Erika to promote their product and give an introduction of what they have to offer. See the video which plays when you click on 'Play Erika'.

 

Heres another example I just found while browsing around. Its a banner by Big Web Links, looks interesting

 

Almost every perfume ads on tv are showing naked or almost naked women, although people usually put perfume on their neck or clothes.
I also see all these cusomized cars magazine (tuning), and they put sexy girls on their covers.
Rap music too, in lots of music videos you can see one guy and 5 girls shaking their a**. (And the cars are there too )

The gini slogan in french is "La plus chaude des boissons froides" or in english it should be "The hottest of the fresh drinks".

Sex sells when it's not rude (except for porn) and when there is "something more" that correspond to the people targeted. I am sure it is true for internet marketing, a lot of people are browsing the internet, marketers can't avoid something that works in magazines or tv.

 

In my experience, sex doesn't sell. I did a little experiment and sex by itself doesn't sell.

It does however create controversy and a lot of attention, but in order to sell the advertisement has to communicate a message to convert the people into sales. Marketers say that the controversy should be on the product and not about the advertisement.
