Why CAN'T I make any money?

Honestly guys, tell me what I'm doing wrong. I've got a Myspace resource website thats getting over 8K uniques daily. I haven't even explored link exchanges or paid marketing yet so thats mostly organic traffic. Thats all fine and great. Yay, I'm getting a decent amount of visitors.

NOT!

I am not making anything. Seriously I'll make $5/month if I'm lucky. Now I don't expect to make a fortune off a Myspace resource site, just because of the nature of the site. However, thats ridiculous for the traffic levels. I've tried AFF, gamefly ads, hosting ads, adsense, and a couple other ads. NOTHING works.

I see all these other people making hundreds a month off these type of sites. They aren't doing much different from me. I don't think...

Have you considered CPM ads? It could be your visitors are just plain blind to advertising, and won't click on CPC ads. With 8K uniques a day you could do OK from CPM - better than you are now at least...

 

First problem: MySpace Resource that market has been totally saturated.

Come up with something NO one does or if you want to do MySpace resources, think of something that no other site offers.

If you really have 8k uniques per day remove all ads from your site and apply to valueclick.

Removing ads should get you approved without issues.

Are you getting 8k unique visitors who actually visit your site or view your resources on some people's myspace page ? Because it appears that when they link to your resources, they may not visit your site again and their visitors may not visit your site. If they do, they would be there for your resources and not to click the adsense ads to get away from your site.

Basically when you create a website, do not put your first priority to making money especially if it is a free resource site or else you will be greatly disappointed. Start a free site only because you love what you are doing and want to share it with the world. The money may or may not come but at least you did something with your first love.

May I see the website? Your numbers sound good, but the low adsense could be from the fact that most of the Myspace Resources are actually free.

8,000 uniques daily and you get 5bucks month? i find that hard to believe

 

send me url in PM. I was tested Adsense and even from the worst sites i get more than $0.5 from each 1000 page views. And send me average CTR (it must be more then 2%).

You would be better off selling links from your site, especially if it has good PR.

My guess: he wants to sell links and can't post in the buy&sell forum yet. If he truly has 8k visitors, he should be able to sell links/banners easy.

I use them too, and with around 30,000 impressions a day i earn around $5-$8 a day
