If you lose the use of paypal it could be difficult, if paypal was to close (Never Will)
Something else would take its place.

    Thanks Brian

I own a totally free directory, and therefore i don't rely on paypal.

The simple answer is "yes". Something will replace paypal, if they will close, which will probably never happen, because they profit too much from users.

Paypal is the lifeline for most directory owners. Its difficult to survive without their services.

many users trust PayPal so i think if you can't take payment by paypal then there must be something fishy going on - they think.

something else would have been created if paypal never was, so directories still would survive, just by another service!

I remember malcolm here mentioning about not relying on one only for things like this and to help bring up the smaller companies.

Much like some people rely solely on adsense for an income and then end up losing their account and suddenly no cash flow.

I think people can help the smaller payment processor companies grow and gain strength by signing up to them , help spread the word, if your paypal account is suddenly closed it may be a bit of a headache for you.

Diversify, help the smaller companies, you might need them (or want them) more than you think in the future.

I think potentially gbuy might be a good replacement once it is developed a little better.

so i lose business if i dont accept paypal? is this what many owners are saying here?

what about accepting credit card payments like 2co. I heard that accepting credit cards look very professional for many potential buyers.

of course PP is not indespensible!

Google maybe right now, but definitely not PP. Once such a thought becomes reinforced, it creates a monopoly, which i resent. So if PP closes, i'm sure i'll find something else or something else good will take its place

I think without paypal the business would hurt so hard that only some people would survive that blow.

Paypal is widely used payment processor and to get most profits out of business we have to offer paypal :)

There's tons of online payment processors out there, I agree with you aspidov that gbuy is garbage at the moment but it isn't going to take long to catch up with paypal's model.

People are pannicking over nothing, paypal is going nowhere but up,. the reference to the titanic sinking by one poster is relative to the times. The modern titanic has the capability of avoiding icebergs whereas the titanic had one man on a crows nest looking out.

I laugh when people say they don't trust anyone who doesn't use paypal, crikey, even the biggest crooks use it.

I agree. 2CO works great ... And personally I have seen 2CO in many directories...

But one question that I always ask and will like to know,

How many people actually like paying with CC ??
I mean, I think PP has taken over directory market and many people take it for granted that a Paid directory have PayPal as default.

PR 6 and Authority directory are exception. They will do good even if they start accepting Wire transfer. But what about new directories that have yet to reach the top ??
