Blog Search not indexing certain blogs?

I have noticed an issue that i took to Google Groups with no success.

As of Jan 17, 2007 my blog was no longer having its published posts indexed into the google blog search. (http://blogsearch.google.com/blogsearch?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=site:weirdasianews.com&btnG=Search+Blogs)

The blog has good authority and is included in the google index with no issue. The blog used to have all posts included until 17 Jan 2007. You can see this in the link above.

I posted this in the Groups at Google and another individual indicated that his blog also stopped showing posts as of that exact same date.

While at SMX i talked about this with Matt and Vanessa, and was going to be looked at as a possible bug but i believe the issue was forgotten.

I am curious to find out if anyone else has checked to see if this effects them or not.

I have spent about a month on Google Groups and cannot get any help. Anyone have any ideas on how to get any attention on this issue?

That was one of my problem also. My blog was 4 months old but not yet indexed in blog search.

 

This is just my observation. But, since that last update, I have seen a lot of my blogs being treated differently. Some were dropped, some not showing PR anymore, but will show links and still have frequent cache updates. I have not looked in the blogsearch but, I will now. Did you guys see any problems with these same blogs in the regular Google index?

 

Well the thing is with me personally..

I am indexed well in Google. I rank number 1 for a ton of terms and i have a PR6 and PR5 on most pages.

I used to be indexed fine in the blog search and it was never an issue. It was only after Jan 17, 2007 that i was not being shown in the blog search anymore.

I actually talked to Matt Cutts and Vanessa Fox about this and they both seemed to think it was a bug.

One additional person mentioned in Groups that they had their posts stop on the exact same day.

I have looked at the pings and they are up to date and i have even manually pinged google through the blog search page many times just to make sure.

 

i dont agree with you. i have a 3 days old blog and it has over 1500 pages indexed by google blog search

 

You might not agree with him, but apparently it's a bug, which is why he posted on DigitalPoint for help. I personally checked out his blog and there are no new posts indexed since January 17th even though he posts to his blog everyday.

So while your blog is being indexed properly, this is obviously an exception to the rule.

 

On what criteria does blogsearch accept and understand a site to be a blog?

 

I am not sure of the criteria for being in the blog search.

I will reiterate a few important points for you all to understand when commenting on this issue.

1. I was indexed in blog search and then was stopped on Jan 17
2. Others have noticed this happen on the same exact date
3. Top Google employees like Vanessa and Matt said they believe this to be a bug (Vanessa is gone but was before she left)

I appreciate the comments and attention you are helping me to draw to this issue. I am really hoping it will get picked up by a Google rep and get solved for myself and any others being effected.

 

Does the blogging software have anything to do with the blog search?

Do you get better blog search results if your site is hosted with blogger.com?

Any idea with simplePHPBlog?

 

Well i use wordpress which i am pretty sure is known for a blog type software.

 

Well, I will have to look at the dates, but the blogs I was speaking of are also using WP.

 

just try to provide back links to your blog. i think its the best way to get your blog or site indexed in search engines
