This is an idea I thought up the other day. If you have gone to any major sites before to buy something. Many of them will occasionally have at the top "Featured on: (bunch of networks.) Well, so has mine. This idea is experimental, I'm no sure if it's legal or not, but here's the thought. On main pages of your site (front page near the top and ordering page) have the logos of networks. (75 x 75 pixels). Don't put "Featured On" or anything, just leave those, you could link them to the main page of that news source. If images may cause a "copyright infringement" then you can always make your own version of their logo (same colors, style) or type it out in the same colors and style. Even though there isn't a direct article for these people to view, it should still gain their trust and prompt them to buy your product. Just a thought. If anyone does it, PM me with results. And if anyone has done it/said it before, what were the results.
What a shady and UNETHICAL business tactic. It might help your sales until either 1) you are sued / taken to court by the networks or 2) you are discovered to be a shady and unethical business person which ruins your sales, companies reputation, and your reputation. Addition: In short, NEVER do this.
If you are using links like this: Site Title CNN NBC (In text! No links to their website) Content I totally don't understand how it would be illegal. LAWL.
I could still see how it would be trademark infringement. Even if it wasnt illegal, that is HIGHLY unethical.
yes but we can still say it's unethical, which it is, very. Why even suggest it? you must know right from wrong.
...and end up having lots of chargebacks. First of all... you are seriously undermining your own business. You are thinking about the FIRST sale. You try to trick somebody to buy from you - and that might work for some time, but it won't work all time, and definitely won't get you any recurring sales. The hardest part in marketing is getting the FIRST sale on some customer. And your job is to provide value: when customer has bought from you, then your job is to keep that customer coming back and BUY again. It's much easier to get 1 guy to buy 10 times, than it is to get 10 people to buy once. And besides - if you try to associate yourself with CNN... and your product is flawed: then you probably end up seeing lots of chargebacks. expected results: - focus on tricking customer leads to max 1 sale per customer (which is the worst rate - since your job is to increase the max sales per customer)... - ...and it will lead to increased number of chargebacks (if your product is flawed) - and it will probably scare away those who would have really wanted to buy your product, but noticed your scam
