Could you clarify on what you mean by mobile marketing?

Do you mean mobile as in cell phone?

Well obviously choices are limited and you do have to be careful when marketing through mobile/cell phones (privacy laws and whatnot).

Probably the most effective method (if your budget allows for it) is by building up an opt-in list of peoples' numbers and send them SMS' every so often. An example...

Say you own an arcade site with a bunch of flash games installed. You have a form on the front page of your website that allows people to sign up for site updates to be delivered to their phone/email - every time you upload a new game or make an update to your site, an SMS/email will be sent out.

It's a pretty expensive method but will certainly keep visitors coming back.

I have also thought about marketing via peoples cellphones... I have a couple cellular related websites, so this seems like a no-brainer there !

ITs too expensive for the working man

They charge you $1000 for one short code then there are monthly fees just for the code thats about four hndred dollars then there are other things
Its just ridiculous then you have to wait ages for you payouts from some outpayment companies.
I really wanted to do something with a website and premium rate sms and found the all the above.

    Get good content.

I write mobile phone reviews for one of my clients, and he pulls in a lot of traffic from search engines.

I would recommend you do the same.

What you can do is insert api code on your websites from the premium rate service providers Seach "premium sms" on Google

Contact the service providers if you have the money
Its frustrating to wait a few days too for replies each email.

There are services that have bulk sms for sale, maby you should check more info about that. I believ that the cost of a sms in bulk is something like 0,6 cents and lower, it depend on how much you take.

I know that Revenue magazine and WHIR have mentioned mobile marketing in their last couple of issues. It may be worth investigating as an additional income stream, if you can afford it. I'd suggest you Google it and see what comes up.

Well dont know about you guys, but I used Vodaphones free weekends pack once (£2.50 for texts only) and sent SMS messages to all my contacts (which were about 160 contacts) twice in the weekend and got decent feedback, but some people were annoyed since it was my personal list, not a collected one of people who were interested in my site, so unless you have a way to get peoples numbers who are interested in your site, then you could do that, but then theres the problem that you need a cell phone for it (which most people do anyways so it shouldnt be a problem).

Also I find this more effective cause it comes from a normal number instead of a service number or something so people actually read the message then just delete it the way i know some people do.
