Does *anybody* actually make money off CJ?

I've tried it on about a dozen different sites, some high traffic, some low. Some highly targeted, some not. I've tried text links and banners in various sizes in various locations.

In all, I've served hundreds of thousands of free impressions and never made a single thin dime. Is it just a big scam to get free advertising?

Many people make good money on CJ.

    If you've:

then you are probably not showing those impressions to highly .. or even moderately .. targeted traffic.

yes, there are people who really make money out of CJ as long as you do your homework. impressions is just one part of the puzzle, driving your visitors to do an action is another thing.

It's not about the CJ thing, is about the affiliate programs there. Generalization in saying "making money on CJ" is misleading. Its just the network.

Find your niche, explore it, focus on it, spend on it, earn :)

I'm no pro, but my new commissions for the month crossed $1k last night. We'll see if I ever get my deposit ($80 of my pending balance is from an advertiser that has left the network and has apparently not compensated CJ for my leads).

If you've had highly targeted traffic I would think it has to be your content (landing page, whatever you want to call it). Make it useful to the user, not a sales pitch, is all I can offer.

I had the same trouble with not getting paid by an advertiser. CJ told me it was OK to contact the advertiser directly since they have left the network.

I did so.... I got paid within 24 hours from the advertiser!! 600.00

Landing pages rock!! i use them with e bay tools!!

You can make money with cj !!

Hmm... I didn't really use a landing page per se, I just ran CJ ads in the place of AdSense.

For instance, I'm currently running it on SFScope.com, a highly targeted site about Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror. The ads are all for appropriate stuff for, yet click-thru is dismal and sales nil.

i have a few CJ links on one or two of my pages, pretty much in place of adsense, but a little more targeted to the content of the page. I usually make $10-$30 day from the CJ links, but today (for the first time) i got a sale that made me $100 :D

Try using Ebay's data feed with BANS. Set up a little Sci-Fi store as part of your sites if your visitors would like that. I just set up BANS like a week ago and have made a little bit of money with very minimal advertising.

I did the same thing for almost ya year and saw no action on CJ. The thing is, to make money on CJ people have to buy or sign up for something. If you target buyers, you will get buyers. If you target readers, you will get readers.

Product reviews, comparison charts... these are the things that target buyers. Articles target readers, enthusiasts and students.

I would try an Amazon affiliation with your site, since there are a lot of books and authors mentioned.

Sci-fi t-shirts and Star Wars store just isn't targeted enough. Appropriate? yes. Targeted? no.

Targeted would be Amazon ads for the nominees right next to the article "International Horror Guild Nominees Announced."

    Good Luck.

So far (2 weeks in) I have been very pleased with the CJ numbers. We'll see if the trend continues.

Ask Jeremy Palmer. Better yet, read his book about affiliate marketing. He makes most of his money through CJ. And that's over 1 million per year.

So it's possible... it's not easy. Takes work and dedication.

I make money from CJ but also other networks plus other advertising like PPC etc so all together I make enough each month to live on.. if I had to just depend on CJ then I would be not so well off but they are one of the better networks as far as income goes..

Good point. It took me a few months of thorough reading to make my first couple hundred bucks. So far I'm on pace to make over $1k this month.

Reading other affiliate articles/blogs/and books helped the most by far. Good luck everyone.

I've honestly felt exactly how you are. I used to think that the only possible way to make money on the internet was through Adsense or YPN. Now I see those as jokes! Just kidding. But now I really do make most of my income via Commission Junction ($x,xxx / month).

I just say don't worry about your past failures and see them as learning experiences. The worst thing you can do now is give up or get frustrated.

What market are you in if you don't mind me asking?

Thank you, i study more from you said!

I think "the only possible way to make money on the internet was through Adsense or YPN " is very useful.

    Thank you again!
