Let's Stop Google All Together

creating a search engine from scratch and making it google's compititor is impossible! why not help yahoo rather!
put a text on your website that says, "use yahoo to search what you are looking for!" and hiperlink it to the yahoo.com, this simple step, if followed by all, can bring in an awareness in the general people to use yahoo.com for searching and not google! everthing else, dmoz, youtube, orkut etc are nothing, if yahoo or msn could be brought up to dominate google then perhaps google's dominance can be overtaken!

 

Yea... then suppose that yahoo or msn become like google, we will make another campaign to bring down one of those, then we would have to help google again :S

 

I'm pretty amazed at how close it is, especially in the google forum. I wonder how the numbers would play out in the 'other search engine' forum...

After all is said and done and as much as we love to hate Google......They do Search best...that is why they are number one.....because the Google Search is the best...

 

after this kind of a work, no search engines will mess arround with the webmasters

ever thought about how Google often comes up with the right "innovation" at the right time?

All these questions and many more Google can answer. Because their Adsense is ever present, they can easily record the IP address (even without cookies!): Adsense automatically sends the IP address. As people often search using Google, they can track the way of lots of them, just by looking through their list of IP addresses and sorting them.

This combined with the Adwords (they know what products are featured), Google Analytics (they are now even better able to analyse sites to the bone), Google Sitemaps (they can analyse the websites), and Google Earth (they can look in your back-garden), makes a powerful wallet of technology.

Naturally, at the moment, they are not remotely interested in what a single person does, but just as Wallmart, they are in the position to predict people's tastes, habits and future. And that brings in the money!

Besides the large stack of brains and money, this is the main advantage of Google.

 

Most of the tech savy webmasters voice against the monopoly of microsoft despite of the fact that windows is the most popular operating system among normal users.
I wonder, when google is trying to do the same thing in the serach engine market, why the webmaster community is not opposing that?

Because until recently, Google was playing the underdog. That has changed over the last few months, especially after hugely overpriced takeovers they have been doing. These got alot of coverage, and probably made people think...

 

in order to do this , you'd need like a team of 50-80 people who are fully dedicated and resources.

I agree to you that it's enough for Google but it is nearly impossible to stop it.

 

You can try something small and local, Google is still US centric. It does not give good results in many big countries (population wise).

 

You could not come close to cloning Google with 50-80 people.

Dude, I've always like you on this forum, but there needs to be something already in place for anyone to cut out the bread and butter.
I am not putting my site in the hands of MSN and Yahoo alone to bring me traffic and index me.
That is just crazy.
Yahoo is stuck up, and MSN only comes around on Holidays like a distant uncle.
