Merged my 2 posts together ...

Sorry to bump this guys, but who now thinks we should start a poll regarding this? Maybe it'll be considered then! :)

Perhaps shawn is to busy to see all of the sponsorship threads lately, but I just counted 8+ on the main page of the "Link Sales"

    -------

Ooops, I seemed to have bumped an older thread because I just noticed 8+ on the main page of the "link sales" myself.

I'll report them to the mods and get them merged hopefully? :D

I still think it would be a great idea, I have now seen some sponsorships available for phpbid templates too.

Maybe the sub-forum could cover signature links and theme sponsorship, it would really help make the link sales forum easier and less congested.

I am for this because it will be easier to find themes and may decrease the chance of having a new thread appear on page 10 or so within 24 hours.

i dont think we should make seperate for sponsorship.

But I think Buy links and Sell Links is a Fantastic Idea, and is one of the best suggestions so far that this forum should take on board

No way. Too confusing. That's like saying we have 20 people selling their sig links on the one thread.

A sub forum would be great :)

    EDIT:
Mate that is simple economics: supply and demand. The same way computers used to be expensive as hell, now they are cheap as. The more supply there is, the lower the price will be. It has nothing to do with your thread, sorry.

I think you will find that its exactly what i was saying. The bit you quoted was infact regarding merging the thread i started with an earlier one. both asking for a subforum. :D

Mate that is simple economics: supply and demand. - Yep I finally sponsored my first theme (you can see it in my recent blog post).

I don't think merging them is the answer.

I would love to see seperate forums for Buy, Sell, Theme and Signature becuase threads are getting burried on the second page way to quickly.

ok... one more time... just in case no-one heard me at the back of the forum(;)) Guys... when i said merge the thread i meant merge the THREADS regarding getting a subforum not merge the forums (which are already merged hence this thread?). This has now been done and is causing some confusion.

    To recap -

A thread was started by a poster asking for a new subforum...
I started another thread a while after asking for the exact same thing.
Some nice citizen pointed out there was a thread already so i apologised and suggested they merge the two (threads not forums!!! see?).

    END OF STORY. :p

So, just to make sure everyone is now clear: PLEASE CAN WE HAVE A SEPARATE FORUM FOR THEMES!!!! :D:D

There is a template forum, but it seems to be only for buying and selling templates. Maybe there should be a sponsorship forum under the template forum. I hope it is done soon because the Link Sales forum is way overcrowded and it's not nice to have a new thread bump to page 10 in a matter of a couple of hours or so.

Yeah the templates forum is only for buying/selling templates.

But "sponsorship" is for selling LINKS on templates.. so it should be in Link Sales :)

I also think that we need to come up with a clearly defined set of rules. Either that or provide a guideline for rules for the designers to use.

For example, my number one rule would be that all bidders should be able to pay on time (say within 24 or 48 hours). If you are unable to meet that, don't bid. It only holds everything up for the rest of us. Recently I had to wait for 10 days before a theme I sponsored got published due to a non-payer. Its plain rude for one person to hold everyone up in my opinion.

The other thing is that Themes should be checked that they work 100%. on a couple of occasions, themes have had bugs in them which resulted in nearly no downloads. Now, these have been amicably rectified in my case, but it should really not happen. So a guarantee that it is bug free is also needed and properly tested.

If you are not going to publish it on themes.wordpress then you should make it plainly obvious for sponsors as it is the one place that gets decent amount of downloads.

For now, I have curbed my sponsoring of themes. It is too time consuming as it is now.

    Any other thoughts?

The forum admin's are not gonna police each and every sale. It is basically 'buyer beware' and it is up to the person starting the sale thread to specify terms for payment.
