    Hi,

I'm looking for the following charactaristics in a hostint provider:

    1. Top-tier host (at least a few hundred dedicated server customers).
    2. Can provide and has experience with load balancers (virtual-IP based, not DNS based).
    3. Will be willing to retain a customized image and build new servers using said image if the volume is high enough (the image will be of nodes in a clustered application).
    4. Can provide burstable bandwidth and charge per GB (not more than .50$/GB).
    5. Has strong backup infrastructure to support dedicated servers.
    6. Provides 24/7 support (with an engineer at the data center)

These are the main requirements. Spam me.

We host several hundred colocated and dedicated servers in our data center north of Chicago. We have experience with several types of Load Balancers from Cisco, Alteon, 3DNS and more.

As for number three, this is one of our expertise. We've done this for several companies over the years. We've accommodated our customers needs for security and autonomy. We can provide references, provided information about our clients is not shared..

We can provide burstable bw and can certainly come up with a competitive pricing plan based on your custom requirements and or needs.

We maintain our own, as well as our customers servers via our technical staff. No, we are not on site 24/7. However you have access to work/cell and HOME phone numbers for emergency after hours contact. I can provide a technical services rate sheet along with a quote for services once i have more information about your specific needs.

My company is located at http://www.hostdrive.com
We've been in business over 10 years now. Own and operate our own facility, and specialize in dedicated servers, server colocation and high end web hosting. We have multiple connections to several internet backbones, our own IP space from ARIN, and redundant routers and HVAC systems in place.

Feel free to contact me via PM or directly to

If you're really looking for something crazy like this, Amazon's Web Services EC2 and S3 sound right. They're load balanced VPS on cluster like, you get root access and all that good stuff, your service will prolly not go down (unless Amazon goes poof)

    aws.amazon.com/ec2

I was actually looking into that but it's in beta now. Also they are missing a lot of features such as the ability to reserve IP addresses in advanced. Not only do you have no control of the IP address new instances get they may actually receive a new IP after a reboot.
