Traffic for income

    Hi all,

Can anyone give me a rough idea of how much traffic I'll need to net $100 per month? I know it depends on conversion rates (what ever that is ) but I'm a bit weary of spending money on the site if I won't be breaking even. So I'm just looking for a guide.

Wow... i think thats the vaguest question i've ever read. :D

First of all, do you have a website idea? Do you have plans to sell something from this site (advertising space, links, products, etc)??

Have you ever operated a website before?

Give us a little more detail....

adsense you would need quite alot.

I would look at CJ.com they have may high paying lead programs that work well on auto websites. Would take much less traffic if you have good content and place the banners well.

You can earn the stated amount without spending on anything besides the domain registration and hosting. Thus, breaking even should not be a problem! :D Since your question is rather vague, my calculations will be completely arbitrary. Nevertheless, once you get the idea - you can do the calculations yourself. Assuming you have a CTR (click-through-rate) of 3%, and each click derives you 8 cents on average (EPC: earnings-per-click), here is how you would calculate an approximate figure of impressions:

    Desired Income: $100/month
    Assumed EPC: 8 cents (0.08)
    Assumed CTR: 3 percent (3%)

    Desired Income ($100) / Assumed EPC ($0.08) = # of Clicks Required (1250 clicks)
    # of Clicks Desired (1250) / Assumed CTR (0.03) = # of Impressions Required (41,667 impressions)

Based on these calcuations, 41,667 impressions should do the job. I hope this helps! :)

If you are just starting, then shop around. 100$ a month is a bit much... Starting off for many sites it's not even $100 a year!

I guess such CTR is quite hard to get, but maybe I'm wrong. EPC is highly hard to predict as it depends on the subject of the website. It may really very a lot. The calculations are quite good anyway :).

If this is a subject that you know a lot about, then I would suggest....

    1) Put all your energy into creating a site that users would LOVE. Think of questions like - "If I was looking for information at an auto site, it would be pretty darn cool if it did _________." Just start doing things that your competitors haven't thought of yet.

    2) Once you get the site rocking, then start promoting. Link link link!

The money will follow, the more you tinker with it.

    I would say 500-1000 uniques a day.
It depends on your niche, CTR, placement, etc.

Also if you have an old established site you can make $100/month even without any significant traffic ;)

I would think that you would need around 30,000 - 60,000 pageviews per month to get that. That works out that you have to get around $1.70 eCPM - $3.34 eCPM to reach that from the 30,000 - 60,000 pageviews.
