HHello everyone and welcome to my signature guide! I hope you will all reap the benefits of this guide because things like this only come once in a life time. XD

I'm not one of those "Before We Begin" type of guys so I'll get straight to the point.

    What is a signature?

OK, let's take paidhosting's signature as an example:
By the way, this is copyright paidhosting. All rights reserved.

Just by the look of it, you can already see a couple of things. For one, he has around 4 links in her signature. Now critically speaking, why would someone even want a signature in their link, and for that matter, why would someone spend money on a signature link? We'll be getting to that right now!

For one, signatures are great for exposure to your website. If you are a avid poster and an constant help to people on a forum about Computers for example and you have a link to your Computer forum in your signature, people will want to visit it naturally. That is a great way to gain exposure to one's website and it works with every type of website. I guarantee that if you have placed a link in your Digitalpoint signature, that you have at least received 50 unique visitors from it (if you post here constantly). That's the main advantage of signatures. Exposure, exposure, exposure!!

Another reason why signatures are so popular are because of backlinks! Pagerank, SERPS and SEO are a very common thing to work on for your website because it helps keep your rankings on search engines high. This gets you more traffic and exposure for your site, not to mention that it helps your Pagerank, which is a huge thing to work on right now. Everytime you make a post with your website in your signature, that counts as 1 extra backlink towards your website. Now if you were to have a bunch of posts and each one of those posts has your backlink, I think you can do the math. ^_^

    Selling Signature Links

Many times, you've most likely visited the Link Sales forum and have seen people selling their signature links. Now, when I first saw this, I was wondering why anybody would want to buy my signature. Being uneducated, when my post count was in the 100's, I sold 2 of my signature links for 1 year for $20. Now, I was a beginner so I was happy that I had made the deal. Wow, I was wrong after around 6 months. I looked at the Link Sales forum and saw even more signature link sales going on, and at that point, I had around 1K posts. I saw big posters with their posts a little higher than mine, sell their signature link for $20 a month! I felt like crap after that.

The point is that signature links are worth something if people are willing to pay for them as they would their basic cable. People want backlinks and exposure so they look for the posters who post a lot and buy their signature links.

Now, if you have tried selling a signature link before and you were unsuccessful, there may be 3 reasons for this.

    1. Your post count is too low. People don't really like to buy posts from people with post counts below 400 because it doesn't show that you are committed yet. You could easily get paid, and barely post on the forums for the next 30 days, so the buyer would be left with nothing. When you buy something, or invest into something, you want something out of it and if you don't have a high enough post count, then that still lacks a little trust.

    2. Your posts per day aren't too high. That's a big one. Like I mentioned before, when you post you get a backlink. Making it simple, if you barely post twice a day, that means you only get 2 backlinks a day, or 60 backlinks a month. If you're a big poster that posts like 20 times a day, you get over 600 backlinks monthly, and that's big. Plus, the people who post more are usually the ones that are more popular and will get you more exposure in the end.

    3. Your price is too high. It makes sense doesn't it? If you have 1K posts, and are trying to get $35 a month, then it will most likely not sell just due to the fact that you are charging too much. The ratio on how much signature links are worth is $1:100 posts. Some people may sell higher because of their posts per day and some people may sell for less due to their post count but that is the main way the value of your links are calculated.

FAQ/Rules on Signature Links - Straight from the DP Rule Book!

    Other

Please try to keep your signatures nothing more than Rated Teen unless it's educational. We don't need porn links in people's signatures (not saying we don't want it :p).

Don't ask for reputation in your signatures. It will get you reputation for sure: Red Reputation.

If you want good exposure, don't make your signature a bright color that will be impossible to see on the green background like yellow or pink.

Oh and another thing, spamming to get your posts higher is bad. Posts are valued higher when they actually help people and are not just posts like "Thanks!" and "Nice One" and "R0FL N1CE 1!!!!!"
    Conclusion

Remember everyone! Signatures can be used to your advantage if you do your research. Read this thread and post your suggestions or anything that I've missed or should add. :)

    Until next time, Adios!!

Great write up! Although I'm finding it harder and harder to sell links, I sold 2, and then gave one away for free since all my "For Sale" threads got no interest.

You should add, that please no pink and bright yellow in signature it hurts ur eyes and helps keep away potential clickers.

Duality, thanks for taking the time, but I think this thread should be locked...
We don't want to encourage newbies to run up their post count.

    It is a nice post

    BUT ----

I would highly doubt it will be a sticky....because Shawn never really touched on if the sig sales thing will last forever,....

I think he allows it , but never really posted "HARD POSTED"

    The official response......

Another words..he allows you to sell them,...but I have never actually seen that it "officially" is allowed

    But nice thread anyhow...
