confused with domain transfers and name servers

I am a little confused with how name servers and switching web hosts work.

I have a domain, say, Domain A under web host ABC. I wish to transfer my website (Domain A) to web host XYZ. So what will happen to my account with host ABC? will all the files uploaded (.html, etc) be deleted during the transfer?

Now, I am not sure how to go about this. I know how to switch web hosts, but if I will to continue my account with web host ABC, what can I do with this account?

I am thinking of registering a new domain (Domain B) and have web host ABC host it under my current account with them. Is it possible to point domain A to a new name server (with XYZ), and point new domain B to ABC name servers. I have the domain transfer code and name server access. Do I need other authorization from my web host or can I just go ahead with it myself?

    Sry if this sounds confusing.

    Yes it sounds confusing. :(

I will first try to make it simple.

    Domain A -> Host ABC
Transfer Website (Domain A) -> Host XYZ

So what will happen to my account with host ABC?
Answer: It will keep working. Moving the files to the XYZ server and then changing the Nameservers of the Domain A. Will just send visitors to Host XYZ. But your account on Host ABC will be still there.

Will all the files uploaded (.html, etc) be deleted during the transfer?
Answer: No it will only get deleted if you delete them yourself or your account on Host ABC is terminated.

If I will to continue my account with web host ABC, what can I do with this account?
AnswerOnce the Host XYZ account is properly set and the Domain name has fully propagated to Host XYZ's Nameservers. Then Cancel the Host ABC account. So that you don't have to pay for 2 servers while you are only using one server which would be Host XYZ.

I am thinking of registering a new domain (Domain B) and have web host ABC host it under my current account with them.
Answer:Yes that can also work. So the Host ABC account will get utilized.

Is it possible to point domain A to a new name server (with XYZ), and point new domain B to ABC name servers.
Answer:Yes. Just change the Domain A to point to Nameservers of Host XYZ and change the Domain B which you will register, to point towards the Nameservers of Host ABC.

I have the domain transfer code and name server access. Do I need other authorization from my web host or can I just go ahead with it myself?
Answer:No you won't need anything else.

    Thanks.
