Deeplinks and non search engine friendly URL's

Discussion in 'Directories' started by pipes, Jun 6, 2007.

When you are offering deeplinks on your directory and a site is submitted with the deeplinks not having search engine friendly urls will that matter to you as a directory owner?

When listed, it shows the anchor text i know, just curious mostly.

I think it should not matter to us as directory owners.

Probably not. I don't see why it would.

deeplinks are for indexing/Passing PR to deep links..

It would be better but not at all necessary.

Are you talking about urls with query strings? Search engines are perfectly capable of dealing with those, it's just that most choose not to when the page in question is below a certain level of inbound links.

As a directory owner it's not something you need to worry about.

Freewebspace and Obelia i mean with query strings, i guess i shouldn't be worrying too much about things like that then from the response here.

I may be obsessing too much over minor things i think. :)

its not going to affect you as a directory owner.

the only time you need to be concerned about queries etc and non search engine friendly url's is when you are promoting a site.

if the site owner wants SEF urls then they will have them

makes no odds to you as a directory owner

it doens't matter to me - and the idea of search engine friendly urls i think is more of a people friendly url thing... at least for google - they don't seem to care if there is ?? in the url...

Detail pages get PR quickly, so if you have 5 more deeplinks there , your sub pages are most likely to get a PR in the next 2 or 3 updates. It needs time. If you are thinking to go a long way with your site, it is worth. Otherwise, if you are going to close the website after 1 year , it is not worth.

I don't understand the question at all

The directory owner determines what the URL format is

The directory owner is the one who has the power to switch on URL re writing

If you don't have url rewriting, the submitter cannot give it to you

No i meant the URL of the websites that are submitted, something that the directory owner has no control over.

Not really as they will get indexed regardless of what format they have.
