    Anyone heard of this yet?
According to an article on the NYPost, Google has recently hired a bunch of lead developers from Sun and Microsoft who lead the Java and Internet Explorer team. They have also registered the domain gbrowser.com

Oh man.. what's next? The GOS?

    MUAHAH!

I read the story first on WebProNews

Well I bet they'd do a good job with a browser.

They could implement Picasa, Blogger, Google, GMail, all into one open source browser. Hmmm probably wont be open source huh?
Maybe mods can be built onto it though.

I think that is a great draw for me to Firefox ... the whole extention/theme community is out there to help make my browser more customizable and efficient to me.

GOS would probably make finding files easy, and catagorizing your data fairly eay as well. Maybe as a file server type OS ... thus storing your music, videos, pictures, software, games, files, etc. all easy to find, fully searchable and adsense ads in your OS. :D

They also hired Joe Beda, the lead developer on Avalon and Joshua Block, a lead Java developer from Sun Microsystems.

If their browser was as good a browser as gmail is to free mail then this would be a fantastic thing. Until then I'm still most impressed with firefox.

Maybe they want to build a better structure from scratch, by which can create totally new program without limitations.

I think google should hop on the mozilla team. They could help each other out. ;) I'm wondering if google browser will be cross platform like mozilla browsers are. Or if it'll be like IE and be totally different browsers on different OSs.

Is this a Google Pre-emptive strike against Microsoft's plans for search built into Longhorn?

    Now you're talking!!
100% free OS so long as you allow adsense ads to be disaplayed. If you pay, the ads go away. Of course it would be hacked straight away so that it was free with no adwords but that could work.

I really do hope google can come up with an OS but I guess it's a major major major project to do it properly

Firefox too slow ? My experience is that it is the fastest browser I have used. What browser do you use that is faster?
Firefox somtimes does give a glitch of not connecting correctly to a site on the first click and requires a second attempt to get thru.

    Sometimes...

    It's always happening...

It is one of the big problems I have with it, along with the memory leak.

Don't get me wrong, I use it, and will do until someone makes something better.

My thoughts are the same as I posted in the other thread in General Chat.

    cut and pasted below

We all knew this was coming in addition to the Puffin hard drive software, the question on this Google Browser is this: Will Google run Adsense ads within the Browser, if they do, (you know they will) then Google will get the money, not any publisher.

Think about this also, Google knows that software like Norton Internet Security and other ad blockers will render their ads on many websites a thing of the past. So if they can get users to use the Google Browser they can still flash ADSENSE, but no publisher will get a dime from the ads in the browser.

You all know that this browser will phone home just about everything, you will no longer need the toolbar with the new browser.
