which domain to promote - with WWW or without?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by Julia-IT-Inventors, Sep 24, 2005.

Is there any preference - what people type more in address bar - domain name with WWW or without?

I am choosing which one to use for promotion by link exchange and want to make the right choice (if it's possible :)) I know that later it can be fixed by 301 but want to do it right from the beginning.

Does anyone have any stats for this?

Like Minstrel said, always use the www.

Nice thing is IE automatically searches the www for you.

This has been asked dozens of times. Pick one, stick to it and 301 redirect the other one to the one you chose. :)

Actually, you can see "www" as a subdomain.

SOme webhosts support www.domain.com and some domain.com. It depends on the apache configuration.

Moreover , some webhosts, support www.subdomain.domain and some only subdomain.domain.com .

Usually, the natural way to build links, is towards www.domain.com .
