alivelinkdirectory.com (Alive Web Directory) -Is it a clone?

I just came across this PR2 Directory -that has similiar domain to Alive Web Directory that we know www. alivelinkdirectory. com (no live link)

The Title of the Directory is also same Alive Web Directory -- what worse -I see Alive Directory as one of its sponsor

 

Though there is no problem with domain name ,he should change his title to "Alive link Directory"

And also he may not have known about Chris's Directory

 

He also has a sponsored link to the real alive directory.

Have a look on on bottom --you will see that he put Alive Directory as sponsor So it is a deliberate RIP-OFF and he knows exactly what Alive Directory is.

 

I think there is no issue at all. Alive Web Directory title is just a keyword. and if original alive directory is in its sponser it means chirs knows with this and have not problem, there is not ripoff thing in this.

I don't see anything wrong. It definitely uses the same words, but I don't think Alive directory is the only directory that can use them.

 

How does anyone operate a Web Directory when they spell it "Web Direcoty", check out the logo??? Is that a different language?

It's defiinitely walking the line. Why proclaim to be something that you are not...should stick to AliveLinkDirectory...or Direcoty, I guess.

Sure, there is a sponsored link to the real Alive Web Directory, but don't overlook the credits that say Copyright Alive Web Directory that is linked to Alive Link Directory. He deliberately used the words Alive Web Directory for keyword search engine results, which is shady.

Also, the author Meta Tag displays - meta name="author" content="Alive Web Directory"

 

Regarding the spelling thing, i think its the problem with the theme he is using because i saw another directory using the same theme having the same incorrect spelling!

And btw using "alive" within the domain, is it illegal?

 

the prob is: similar domain name always exists...you can't stop it.
I think users know the difference.

I've voted it's a rip off, why would you choose that domain name unless you were trying to take advantage of Alive's success? However there's not much you can do about it, not bad enough to send the bunnies in but I wouldn't have anything to do with this sort of domain leeching [v.intr. To attach oneself to another in the manner of a leech].

 

yea its one of those QBC idiots looking to get something out of it because of the name, shame chris is on vacation

 

Another twist to the debate. The domain is over one year old. So if he/she is ever a Ripper-- then he might be one of the founding members of this QBC team
