This is basically a feedback/suggestion/advice sort of thread, and I need YOUR help on how to market it.

    Main Idea:

I recently thought up a great idea, to make a website where people input their ideas for developing. Basically like an enterprise where you share your idea sort of deal. There is a place where people submit there ideas in the following developer categories: game development, software, engineer, and some others I can't think of. I am still in the brainstorming process.

But what I was thinking is, have a main homepage that explains what the site is, and helps people on become a successful developer such as people who own Java Sun, Apple, Microsoft, Intel, Mozilla, etc. Who create and develop new ideas and programs for the benefit of others.

In the homepage, I would also post news and articles related to development/entrepreneurship as well as helpful advice. Also there would be a forum section like here at DP where people learn about webmaster/marketing but for my site it would be for developing/entrepreneurship.

I guess you are thinking, yeah Rat, what is this for exactly? Well, since I am in highschool, and can't really think of anything else to do in life but to become a successful developer, whether it be in the game industry, software, or engineering, I thought this would be a good idea to experience it.

You're also thinking, your not an expert, why should we follow you? Well I am not an expert at being an entrepreneur but I am quite profound at creating websites, helping people, seo, and marketing. I try to learn as much as I can, and that above all else, is my main goal. To learn about the experiences, ideas, and help from others who visit the community. A community not only where I share my knowledge, but where everyone shares their own, for the benefit of others. I think it would be a great way of reaching my goal in life.

In the forums, the categories would be similar to the ones mentioned above. If you have any ideas on development categories please feel free to express your opinion. Also I will have a programming/designing/marketing forum category where you can talk about those essential needs to becoming a successful developer and business creator.

Also as a bonus to help the website in it's popularity, I thought of having a Developers Idea contest, where people submit their own innovative ideas, and are reviewed by judges (one of which is me) and the community members as well. But the winner also gets a special surprise...

That winner, gets a sponsorship from me (and all that I can afford as a teen ) and gets help from my community and experience, and maybe if this turns out good, I can get a hookup with some major company to help the winner, and my idea.

To shorten it all up, I want to create a website, that helps people reach their ideas full potential, an idea submitting place based on category, where you can give out your technological advancements using your imagination, and a forum to talk about them. Also to provide news and updates in the developing world on the homepage, and specific categories that are essential to create a successful business.

    Your Opinion:

Okay so now you read what my idea is all about, what I want from you is your vote here on these questions please and with all my sincerity (sentences please):

If you could answer those, I would be more than happy to read all your opinions. Please and thank you.

An idea without action is like an army without weapons :) ... No idea is stupid unless you try it out.

How about instead of telling us your idea, you actually do it. Then when you have tried it out and have it working.

Show us your idea and we will tell you how we like it.

Exactly! Exposing your idea in a public place would do more harm than good. Just my two cents.

I am going to do it. I just wanted to know what everybody thought if it as first. If everyone said it was a bad idea, then I am not going to waste time and money trying to perfect something that cannot be perfected.

I had that happen to me once before, and do not intend to run into that problem again, thats why I ask..

So you expect me to type in on a search engine, "Is this a good idea?". Try to at least make a sentence post..

I honestly think you'll have trouble getting people to submit truly innovative ideas. Assuming you have a great idea...whats to stop someone with more money and more experience from doing it on their own?

A suggestion. If you have a good idea, keep it secret until it is launched.

Lol, your the second that gave me that post. I agree but not in every case will the person submitting an idea have more money/experience. But you do have a point, just another reason for me to brainstorm and plan everything out and fix all the flaws.
