I was curious if it violates the Google TOS to use articles from sites like ArticleCity.com Article City is basically a site that has articles that authors have submitted and have given copyright permissions for them to be used on anyone's website as long as all the text remains unchanged and intact (including probably a hyperlink to the author's website). I didn't find anything about whether using these types of articles is against the TOS, but I may have overlooked. Does anyone know?
Nice resource too! There is some really interesting stuff on there.I went for a quick look and spent the last hour on it Thanks for the heads up
It is absolutely within the TOS to use them on your site. The only time this can be an issue is if your site is exclusively duplicated content. Be sure if you are using them en masse with AdSense that you add some value to your site to ensure you don't fall into the "Made for AdSense" category
Glad you like the site MKInfo. Thanks toocool and yfs1 for the feedback. Good to know that it's an option for helping to fill in content on the site.
so did I. thats a nice site that i will add to my rss feed. Have a look guys even if you have no interest in using the articles. thanks chopster have some green.
I'm stunned - I thought everyone in this business knew about articlecity. As some obviously didn't. Here's a few more for you: www.articledepot.co.uk www.goarticles.com www.isnare.com www.articlecity.com www.exchangenet.com www.article-directory.net www.freezinesite.com www.ezinearticles.com
HI Jlawence I just looked at the TV link in your sig and have found it usfull, I normally use radiotimes site but the layout is annoying there, you must spend hours a day keeping the listings up to date, or is there some trick you use? Sorry to go off topic.
As far as I can tell, it does not violate the TOS but you'd have a real hard time trying to get any traffic because of Google's (and others') duplication filters. It may be OK to mix it in with some original content, but just taken by itself this content would get you a SERP 1,234,567 that you won't be too proud of.
hours, not I. For a utility type area of a site - which is what I think of the tv listings as - if it can't be automated then it won't be done. iirc, it's xml files from somewhere or other which I have cron fetch to keep the listings upto date. These xml files are then pulled in using php and displayed. The rss feeds are dynamically created, and what you see in a browser isn't exactly what is seen in an rss reader - the browser can still show adverts for an rss feed. One day I'll get around to sorting out the layout - it is a bit bland and not exactly optimized.
1-script.com: yes, used on their own they'll not generate much traffic. Use a unique layout and naviagtion, add in extra bits and bobs, and you should find it reasonably easy to avoid any dup filter.
I think that you will change something in the text / delete some captions then everything will be ok. Just try not to just copy - paste.
tomecki: that would normally be going against the allowed usage of the article. You can avoid the DUP content filters without changing the article itself.
If so then there you can have a dup content in google. And therefore you can be at the bottom in google by making duplicate content.
