So, by that litmus test, are many of the people employed by Walmart actually employed by Walmart?

 

ye we are not employed by them we just make business on contract!

 

when you apply for a job,even though your considered self employed,what you do on the web is not employment history or positions.
webmaster or whatever can be added in extra skills or hobbies.

for best buy the skills doesn't matter unless your applying for a job at HQ.
knowing how to upgrade a computer goes farther then knowing how to put ads in a website,but who are we kidding you don't need to know anything about computers to get a job at best buy.

This is actually incorrect.

Being self employed (<--keyword) means that you do hold a position and employment (synonym of keyword).

So what you do on the web is indeed employment (whether or not you make money at it)

Also if you look under most Help Wanted Ads 'webmaster' is indeed a job at many companies.

 

let's just put it this way, we don't work for google but we work with google.

No you are contracted by google. Do you employ garbage men? How about the cable TV guy? Or maybe the lady who cuts your hair? You pay them. They must be your employees. Forget the city, cox cable, crazy lary's house of hair. You employ thousands of people because you pay them.

I don't see it matters much when we place it on our CVs -- almost everybody can be a publisher (perhaps limited only with age, country and a few other restrictions).

It's possible that those who see CVs and know "what's going on" would think "ah, this might be one of those makers of MFA websites".

I am an established webmaster and include many fortune 500 companies such as google as my clients.

 

And hope like hell the employer doing the interview doesn't ask any followup questions about your previous work experience

 

Yea, google is like fedex. We're 'Independent contractors' on their payroll, so we get no benefits or insurance.

 

There's no way google would have so many employees.. LOL.. It would prefer calling us clients.
