GODADDY.COM REACHES AGREEMENT TO HELP REGISTERFLY CUSTOMERS
850,000+ Web site Names in RegisterFly Portfolio to Be Moved to GoDaddy.com

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (May 29, 2007) – GoDaddy.com®, the world’s leading domain name registrar, has reached an agreement with RegisterFly® and ICANN® to transfer over RegisterFly’s portfolio of Web site names to GoDaddy.com. The move will help resolve problems involving hundreds of thousands of domain names around the world.

RegisterFly customers have been affected by recent problems and the impending loss of RegisterFly’s accreditation as a domain name registrar. GoDaddy.com will notify RegisterFly customers of the switch and automatically move their domains for them. Customers can get support and answers to any questions they have at a dedicated GoDaddy.com hot line and a designated “welcome” Web page. Once the switch is complete, more than 850,000 domain names will have been moved.

I'm sure GoDaddy will win more sympathy by doing this as I know many desperate about not knowing what the future of their domains is.

    Good move.

    Looks like it:

    https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/news/release_view.asp?isc=gdm0535a&ci=8863&news_item_id=94

It appears to be a gradual process, which I can understand. Kinda similar to
how Network Solutions acquired Registrars.com's customers before.

Is this the reason why I am currently having difficulties transferring a domain away from RegisterFly to NameCheap? The domain is "locked" despite the fact I have "unlocked" it in RegisterFly's online domain management.

I don't think this is the reason , cause this is the result of registerfly's such problems not the cause of them :)

Why not? Although it's nice to do things out of the goodness of your heart, it
isn't always going to bring food to the table.

Do a WHOIS and see if the line Status says "Ok", ozgression. Otherwise you're
going to have to probably wait this out.

Strange but I don't like them , too.But imo if you do your part good , they are good at their part and if any problems occurs they fix them. That's why I prefer to do business with them

Well i don't think this is a guideline for GD only
Most of the reliable registrars or business in general work that way
If you cooperate with them they work with you too and fix the problem

However my experience with GoDaddy is totally bad, from ignorant support that i had to explain them how their system works to the payment of a wrong guy at paypal for one of my sales at tdnam... to name a few, but anyway this is not the topic how good GoDaddy is. The fact that took these names that flew i think was a good move not only for his profits but also for image
