Google gadget as link to your site ?

Surprise #1

Recently I've discovered "igoogle" and the whole gadget system. First iGoogle seems to me very nice and quite fast compared to the similar system of MSN. Some gadgets are nice, usefull, fun... you sould find more or less what's you need.

Surprise #2

Then, I've seen that the system was totally opened... and that you are able to develop a small gadget by yourself. This is very fast and simple.

Surprise #3

After having "develop" my own made gadet, I submit it the google in order any one can have access to it and add my gadget to its own iGoogle... Less than a week I receive a confirmation from Google that my gadget was added to the directory and accessible to everyone... waouhh !

# Now the question is ?

So, I took the opportunity to put a link to my site and hope this one will contribute to make my website a bit more popular. Does any of you test the same and have some feedbacks to share ? what was the results? how many time to be efficient? what's the operating mode, in order this gadget can bring more trafic ?...


I think this one can be more or less submitted and used as an RSS flow.

It's pretty intresting what u have done. I even didn't know that there is a possibility like that - maybe because i don't like iGoogle yet.

it's good but there is nofollow on link which is going to your site. it will not help you

Hello michalk1990, what I see in my stat is that newcomers visite my site throught this kind of url:

Now, if you dissect the url :
- I have several url with different beginning "29" (79, 56, 62...)
- http://29.gmodules.com/ig => comes directly through the new igoogle service. I think it is the whole server that host the gadgets.
- http://1game.free.fr/gadget.xml => this part is the url where I host my gadget code.

In terms of newcomers throught xx.gmodules.com., on the weeks before, I've got about (in unique visitors)
w-1 => +10%
w-2 => +0%
w-3 => +11%
w-4 => +12%
w-5 => +3%
w-6 => I submit the gadget here.

But as you can see, this is quite new and I have not enought time to see what will happen...

 

In term of pure search engine index, you are right but in term of popularity of your site and for the additional number of visites, I think it's a complementary way to promote your site.

Following to the last posts about the Google gadget... I continue working with those gadgets. I can now tell you that it brings real trafic in the same proportion as described above.

Now, I've developped new gadgets... and I am waiting for a google registration.

I have this realization and did a similiar thing a few months back, and noticed quite a few visitors coming through. but not phenomenal. They seemed to clear out all the gadgets at some point so it was resubmitted a couple of weeks ago. It was here http://www.easyforexsignals.com/trendwatcherhelp.aspx

To be frank i was disappointed.. i thought it would be huge!

There are a few other options to think about, there is the google desktop sidebar, which is quite popular. the google implementations are quite straightforward, unlike MS. the exciting possibilty with MS is of course the Vista Sidebar. Straight to the desktop... Of course i already replaced mine with google sidebar as its far more useful...
