It's not PMs... it's (still) some weird bugginess in MySQL that makes queries slower the longer the mysqld process runs. Really annoying...

I didn't realize you could do that..That makes a big difference for me. I'm going to download all 1000 tonight and clear out my PM box.

I've been battling with that limit...I have to learn to junk the chit-chat ones right away

Is there a way to delete all 1000 messages? Or do I have to do it a page at a time?

I think that's a great idea, it would save me the hassle of selecting 20 at a time to delete them.

Can't you put in an auto delete option that is set to on automatically, but can switched to off? You could even give time options as well.

If you add pp=200 to the URL, it will display 200 per page, then the checkbox in the upper-right of the list will select 200 at a time for you.

The other (even easier) way is click the "Empty Folder" link towards the top (where it shows your folder stats).

Sounds good to me. But am I just blind or is there no "Move to folder..." selection in Sent Items, as there is in the Inbox

Yeah... I noticed that myself after I started this thread. If I implement it, I'll figure something out. Either modify vBulletin so you can move them, or put a way longer restriction on Sent Items (like 3 years or something). Basically I just don't want to get into the practice of storing PMs for EVER. This forum is going to be around for at least 1,000 years... and I imagine that's going to take a LOT of space even after 100 years. ;)

I think everybody should download their PM's and clear them more regularly. I download them into CSV and keep em. Can;t hurt.

What, you've no faith that Moore's Law can keep up with the PM traffic on this forum? :D

(Note strategic lack of comment on the Millennium Plan bit...)

I think 6 months is even overly conservative. In truth, if it's a message I need to keep, I'll forward it to one of my email addresses or something. If you wanted to prune PM.s after 30 or 60 days, I'd be fine with that.

As for read receipts, I don't even use the things. Disable them.
