    Just went to the User CP to find I had gray rep for a post, which I assume is neutral. How is this given? When clicking the rate link I only see the option to approve or disapprove.

    Grey means that they couldn't affect your reputation because either they are too new, or they don't have enough rep themselves.

    It was given by a user without enough rep to give you a green or red. Happens a lot when people with red rep try to give you one.

    to'give you one' has a whole different meaning in the uk. As in Man she is cute, I wouldn't mind giving her one ' I am sure you can work out what the one being referred to is. :p
