Google Analytics

I'm using Google Analytics, and have probably a straightforward question.

When I look at the Executive View > Content Summary > Top 5 Entrances
I've noticed the first three are:

    1. /
    2. /default.aspx
    3. /Default.aspx

I'm slightly confused as I would have thought all the links that I've gained would have been to www . mysite. com and not www . mysite .com / default.aspx or www . mysite .com / Default.aspx

Can anyone shed any light on why I get the 3 versions? what does it say about how people visit my site?

    thank

Google classes each of thoose links differently, it doesn't know if the page is the same. Google is case-sensitive and subdomain sensitive. It works the same way for it's search results.

Yeap I appreciate that, what I'm trying to get at is I can't really see visitors typing in www. my site. com / default.aspx or www. my site .com /Default .aspx
or people linking to me with those.

But apparently they must for some reason. I was just trying to understand why, any ideas?

Obviously there must be some links to /default.aspx etc. Checkout your backlinks on msn or yahoo.

Chances are, a visitor to your site may see the url in the address bar and copy and paste it, do you sometimes get /default.aspx in the address bar?

The only time is see /Default.aspx is when I go into the site and I navigate through the site and then click on the home button.

I've checked google backlinks and yahoo site explorer and MSN wouldn't send much traffic.

You can create goals and leave the case sensitive box unchecked. It will show under your goals data as one URL in all.
