One of my sites has nearly 4000 pages indexed in Google.I want to do some onsite linking from the main page to some of the internal pages. What I was thinking of doing is using a random php script which calls info from a text file and displays it on my homepage. Would this be a bad thing to do? If not what would be the best way to use it......just a link with anchor text or same with short description (20-30 words with keywords) Thanks MK
MKInfo, Random text link is not a good idea. Reason 1 - During index google will see only one of your link at each indexing. 2 - During the next index google will see a different link, instead of the previous one. Google like aged links.
my optinion is giving link to home page with your main keyword. this will help you to get better results. i dont suggest you to use random anchor text or a description
There is nothing wrong with that idea. Deep linking is important, but I would limit it to target pages for your SEO work.... it places a kind of 'importance score' to the page in question.
