Newbie needs advice, please

Hi am new here please can somebody help

I have registered on domain name, can you please suggest which
is the best way to create a web page. Do I sign up to an on line
web building package ie instant / Pro builders & pay a monthly fee
for this or is there a free alternative on the web I can use also if I go the pay per month route, do the instant sites allow for you to a google ads on them ?. I know I will have to pay for hosting etc.

I would be very grateful for any assistance.

A lot of hosting services offer a free site builder builtin but I have not had much luck with adding ads to it. I recommend using a WYSIWYG editor because you have more flexibility. You can download a free one called NVU by searching Google for a download and then you can find a free template or just start fresh.

I started off with Joomla , but you could start using Wordpress blog or something...

Just means you dont have to worry about coding , Joomla & Wordpress are content management systems but more so , a way for you to get online and start publishing your thoughts etc..

You could use something like blogger?

get META tags on there for people to find my webpage ???

everything can be done there,so start with wordpress ,go to wordpress fopport community to get better suggestions.and helps about creating a wordpress site.

Start with a blog, you can goto blogger, open an account and right away you can start your blogging life. That's free too.

But if you want more control, you can also start with a hosting plan and install wordpress and play with it. But it may take some time.

About the meta tag stuffs, don't worry about it. Meta tags are not so good for driving traffics nowadays. Just exchange links with others here and register with the directories.

Meta tags may not be so important like anchor text from links but they have some values... you shouldn't give that kind of advices to a new webmaster.

In my opinion meta tags must be used, if not for google for other search engines and on from an other point I of view think google also gives some importance to them... pages with the same description or keywords are placed often in supplemental.
