Question about traffic

What is the best way to create traffic to a blog? I'm completely new at Blogging, my first blog was created seven days ago in Blogger.com, and I've pinged it with Ping-o-Matic.com every time I've added a post, and even submitted it to Google, but have had no traffic at all as of yet. Any suggestions will be immensely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

- MyBlogLog - join it
- Carnivals - participate in them
- Your Feed - Publicize it
- Content - offer something that will excite people (you've written 3 posts in a row about taking surveys, and none offer any actual insight on what is entailed)
- Create a signature here on DP

Get some links to your site. Most directories do not allow blogger blogs but some do. Trade links with other bloggers.

Add site to some social sites like stumble upon.

There is soooooo much competition for eyeballs nowadays, some of which is very professional and highly financed, that I think it is easy to get lost using the typical services and modes. Getting recognized is very, very difficult (did I emphasize difficult?). I think that best way to promote, is to settle on a topic that you love to write about, write articles from your own point of view, and visit forums where readers may be interested in reading and commenting on your point of view. You'll have to be very patient, since readers have a limited amount of time to "do new things" in their life, and to eek out a minute or two from their time may seem simple, but is awfully difficult. Even my girlfriend doesn't spend time on my blog, because she is too busy. So be patient and make sure you are enjoying it. Otherwise, find something else that you do enjoy.

first tip is to create lots of traffic, good original traffic, to get some search engine hits. This will drive other bloggers to link to you, and it will all start cascading.

Don't give up!

 

Quite frankly, we can find a lot of good informations out there (by just searching through search engine) on how to improve traffic. It's the same old thing repeated in a different manner (way of saying). As for me, good original content matters. There is an old adage that says, "if you build, they will come". I believe in this. Write good content and promote at the right place relevant to your content. Promoting at the right place matters because we want relevant (targeted) traffic. The idea is simple, people need to know that your site or blog exist. You can do this through advertisements. Another sure way is through leaving your footmarks everywhere you go i.e forums, blogs etc. Leave good comments. When people visit your site, make sure you have something useful for them. Oh well, I don't want to write a long one here, hehe, it might end up looking like an article lol.. anyway, hope that helps.

 

All I know is that theres no money in social bookmarking

 

I get good traffic from stumble upon, however, I am not sure if it is 30 sec traffic, or quality, but it is numbers.
Content will drive your traffic as you do all the other suggestions.
Content is king, original content is Pope.

 

Looks like I left one major element out: commenting. If you get out and comment on other blogs, you'll see tht they will often stop by to see who you are. If you write quality, related comments, you'll be set. If you're out there with useless comments that do nothing or that spam your website, you'll find yourself with a backlash.

Comments do work for traffic building, though.

There are a lot of things you can do as people have already mentioned. A couple of easy things are putting some blogs on other sites with links ack to your site and putting your blog address in your siglink (when you can).
