Actually I meant to post the category in the forums, not PM me but it worked anyway. ;) You wrote the following which promoted my request:
I interpretted that to mean you had a site listed 5 times in one area of the directory. The search you gave me revealed a different story. The root URL appears to be listed twice: 1-Regional and 1-Society which is appropriate. One deeplink is listed in Kids and Teens which is also acceptable. The remaing two links were also deeplinks to specific topical sections in Society. Those may need looked into by editors in that branch but I am guessing they were at least at once time considered valuable enough to be included in their topics. Submitting an Update request should accomplish that, but they could still be deemed eligible for deeplink listings.
As for your site, I don't edit in that category and didn't look in depth at it. I would guess that it has not been listed because no one has reviewed it yet (assuming its listable).

DMOZ is a joke. I have submitted dozens of sites - no response. I have no idea what Google is thinking by using that system as base for their directory.

Just wondering, if DMOZ is a joke why do you waste your time submitting dozens of sites? Seems silly to me.

BTW, you might want to check the sites in your sig. I understand you're the expert and I admit I'm not well versed in SEO, but could you explain what is the benefit of advertising a site with nothing on it? I can tell you for sure that it would be a complete waste of time to submit http://www.radiux.com/ ....hope your other submissions were for better sites.

I wonder most of the times when I try to add URL from the past 3 to 6 months in time, it says the same message like "Service temporarily unavailable". But when it comes to getting a strong backlinks, almost all articles suggest to a link in DMOZ. How to get in to it? or Is the site is live and are there enough of editors & mods to keep it running?

Did u guys have a same problem?

    please comment...

I gave up a long time ago getting into Dmoz and i still got a pagerank 5 site without it after only a few months of my site going live.

I've had the same errors as you, and its hard to say if anyone actually looks at the submissions that you make to the site.

If i were you, i wouldn't waste my time with dmoz anymore.

dmoz is slowing down for sure, my site is listed there , but i never recieved much traffic. its better to go for other directories.

they don't take a while they take lot of time to add your link and that is also very difficult by normal process , they recieve thousands of links a day which is difficult to filter and manage.

I would keep trying, but don't worry about it too much, it's not make or break.

    Thanks for the response guys...

I gave up long time ago. Still happy that my page got ranked for 3 without DMOZ.

I started submitting to directories almost 5 months ago, and as far as i can see i'm not listed on any. They all seem to ask for payment now - which ones are the best free ones?

Search here, or on Google for "free directory" and you'll get a list. Though keep in mind, most of the free lists I've seen include many niche markets. Getting your travel site listed in a garden directory likely won't amount to all that much.

They are a great directory but like all good things, they got too big and now it takes sometimes a year or more to even get a shot to get listed, I say it is not worth the stress. Submit if you can and quit worrying, if it happens it happens but it will not make or break your site.

Post count filler or just more useless non-sense? Nice pictures in the "damer" link though. :D
Most of this is well said everything after "listed," that is. Getting to big is not DMOZ's real problem, because thousands of sites get added that no one ever submitted and no one is worrying about them getting listed either.

Indeed! And that explains why so many people care enough to talk about it all the time still.

Personally I think it's doing better then it ever has...as any publicity is good publicity and they certainly have more free advertising then any other directory out there ~ and most of it compliments of people not liking it :D

    YAY 4 DISGRUNTLED BACKLINKS!

I've used DMOZ more then any other directory out there, in fact, for years it was the only directory I knew about. While I think that google is FAR better at finding things, many of the niche categories and local categories are beneficial (assuming they have been edited in the last 18 months).
