I've heard submitting your blog or website to as many directories as possible can pay off big time but it sure seems like that would be a whole lot of time spent. Is it worth it? Also is there a way to automate that process? Daryl
Not necessarely. You need relevant and higher PR page to get your own high PR down the road. And most of the time, if not always, a PR7 directory get a PR4 category and a PR1 subcategory. And the page where you submit your link is PR0 and useless.... So imagine a PR4 directory...
Google has devalued directories pretty badly -- but not completely. Directory submission services are inexpensive enough that they are still worth doing. There is a good submission service thread here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=331534
I think they are still worth it, because a link is a link. Also, they can get you some traffic once in a while. They also get you SOME exposure, so I think these submissions are worth it.
Totally agree with rosiee007. Plus, if one of these directories (for instance new ones mentioned in these forums) becomes a little famous you wish you would be on it. Feel free btw to submit. www.shrugle.com
Submitting many directories won't hurt you, if anything it'll help. I don't think because that a directory is a PR0 means a bad idea. Any web site can always blossom into something else. Keep it rolling. -Swapw
Its always worth to submit your site to QUALITY and strong directories.. My directory receives lot of submissions from SEO firms.
Still worth while, just don't expect too much from them... Pay someone if you can't spare the time yourself...plenty of choices here on DP.
Directory submissions still produce results. You get backlinks to boost your PR and direct visitors as well. For free directories, it takes some time to approve the submissions.
If you submit to an outrageously large amount of directories, you can get some results. But in my opinion it's not worth it for my site, so I devote my time to article marketing instead. I think directory submission takes way too much time and is not efficient enough.
Does it matter which directory you post too? I added my site to a few directories but some of them have nothing to do with what my site offers, will that make things worse or have no effect?
You could try using some auto submitter or pay someone to submit the site for you. You probably would get a better value from that than doing it yourself manually (if you've never done it before, it could take a very long time) Cheers
