    Why don't you try articles-exchange.com.
    You exchange your article with another site and if the site is popular you will get traffic from that plus links to your site as well.

    If you were to submit to only one article directory, make sure it is ezinearticles ... You will see the most results from this directory than any other.

    I submit to about 100 article directories, mostly manually. However they are all PR2 and above.

    Submitting variations of 3 articles early in May has gained me 600 backlinks already, and the articles have been picked up by editors to 20+ ezines.
