If I create an ad network... will you come?

    Hey guys,
If I create a clone of adwords and adsense, will you guys come and use it... or will it just be completely ignored. I am going to put a couple thousand dollars into this script, so I need to make sure I'm going to make it back.
    Thanks
    Mike

No, I would not come. No reason to switch from adsense / ypn (from a publisher and advertiser perspective).

It depends on the payout because I wouldn't risk taking adsense off for a day ;) (losing $$) but it's worth a shot! Very interesting..

It all matters who "you" are. Have you built a relationship with people, branded yourself, made people aware of who you are and what you can offer.

The net is a scary place for some and the only way to really succeed online is becoming a trusting individual that people will want to do business with over and over again.

Like with any business, you need a unique selling proposition. Just having a script won't make you successful.

Exactly... your unique selling position and point of difference is where you need to focus. Your aim will be to convince people to use your network instead of a competitor (adwords).

Its not as simple as just writing a script... building something as large scale as an ad network requires a great deal of thinking, designing, planning and execution. Trust me, I know! ;)

If you have something that allows me to advertise on my site, I get paid and the ads are actually targeted, then sure I will use it!!!

However if you do make this and get it working, it might be useful to try and find a better way of paying webmasters than a check that takes weeks/months to get to them... instead try paying them with something like paypal, its much easier for everyone really...

Do not create a clone, try to find something that complements the other ad networks.

So give me a example.. and when you guys say better payouts what do you mean.. a lower minimum payout or just in general more per click?
    Thanks

An ad network is about balance.... its hard keeping both advertisers and publishers happy because they both have conflicting goals.

The advertiser wants the cheapest possible clicks - the publisher wants to make the most from each click.

Its about striking a balance where you can keep as many people happy as possible.

As far as your network goes you need to think about what sort of network you want to create then brainstorm some ideas/concepts and go from there.

    I will try it definitely.

But its hard to compete with the big bros.

Why not make one that concentrate in your own region (country) ?

In Malaysia, some guys started their own Ad network, and its doing really well.

They expanded to Singapore in a couple of months.

PM for the site name if youneed.

Well if you support sites that adsense would not support like adult etc.. You need a niche. Cheap and cheerful ads. I myself use adbrite and adengage a lot because it is so cheap compared with adsense and very very simple to use, no need to long enrollment.
