Best Times for a BlogTalkRadio Show?

I'm soon launching a BlogTalkRadio show tied to www.ChickTech.net, covering things like content creation, online PR, Internet marketing, blogging, and features / interviews with women webmasters in addition to regular guests. It's going to be a sort of combination business / tech show with a bigger focus on the business / promotion side of things, and it looks like I'll be hosting solo for most shows.

Monday and Wednesday nights seem to be good so far, both for me, and for a few potential guests I've talked to. But what do you think from a listener's perspective for this niche area? I'm thinking evenings on weekdays to make sure those only doing writing or webmaster work part-time have a better chance of being available, and people are more likely to be around and thinking about business than on weekends (especially with nice weather coming).

I was thinking about 6pm eastern time. It would be ok I'd imagine for my time zone, and early enough that at least some UK folks would still be up. But then those in the pacific time would be kind of early in their day still.

Any thoughts? I'm going to end up launching next week with the introductory show, so I'm just trying to get the times ironed out first.

    Thanks! :)

    Jenn

6pm sounds good, much later and you start to compete with prime time TV. But really I dont think it matters too much as long as the shows are archived and accessible.

True about the prime time shows. My biggest concern is wanting to build up some decent callers over time, so I want to time it where I don't cut people out too much. But yeah... during prime time could be tough, and if a few guests in other time zones want to participate to promote their sites / businesses, then I'm sure they'll work it into their schedule. :) Thanks. I think I'm going to schedule the first few shows at Wednesdays, 6pm eastern time, and contact a few people I'd like as guests to see if they're interested. Thanks for the feedback. :)

an 800 or 888 number might be best if you want to encourage call ins.

Well that's unfortunately not my option, or I would. It's being run through BlogTalkRadio.com, and they don't offer that quite yet.

Glad to hear it. :) The first show is going to be just an introductory next Wednesday, where I'll be introducing myself a little bit, talking about the plans for the show and upcoming segments (especially the first interview the following week), letting people know what they can expect, and what they need to do to get involved through call-ins and such. The first "regular" show will be with a friend and colleague that runs a niche content network, and the topic of the show will be promoting niche content sites. We won't be talking much about the general kinds of things you'll see here (like seo, directory submissions, etc.), and instead we'll be telling you how to move beyond that to get major companies to take notice of small, developing sites for partnerships, getting more lucrative advertising deals worked out even early, building traffic and regular visitors through incentives and relationship building, networking within a niche to build cross-promotional partnerships, etc. It'll be a nice starting show. :)
