YES. Does the TV/media make money off of advertising - yes. Do websites make money off advertising - yes. In the end it's simply content which brings visitors which see advertising which = revenue.
If people weren't making money off advertising then you wouldn't see it very many places. Since There are ads plastered all over pretty much every site on the net, I think its resonable to assume that yes, people are making money.
